Easter Bank Holiday Monday at home which started with a long lay in until 9am. Daniel and I started commissioning the swimming pool for the season after which I saw British drivers doing well in Formula 1.
No sign of Mrs Doyle who was supposed to come after damaging Diana’s car. This evening I attended a meeting of the Little Paxton Village Hall Trustees.
The latest talking point is the murder of a Scottish tourist in New Orleans so that all the world now sees the dangers of visiting America.
I was awake once or twice in the night but then we all slept in until after 9.00am, the latest I think that we have ever managed. In truth, we were all still affected by the transatlantic time change and were sleeping until, what were to us, the early hours of the morning. I got up, dressed and went straight out to see to Sam but, to his credit, he was not too alarmed at having to wait. More of the outside chores and only then could I go in to get shaved and bathed ready for the day. Lunch soon followed and then I relaxed on the settee for much of the afternoon watching the highlights of yesterday’s motor car racing. She promised to come and see it but did not show up so leaving us annoyed at a lost day at home and with the dilemma as to what to do. A nice tea of cakes and sandwiches in the lounge and then, after taking Sam for another long walk, it was time for me to go to a meeting of village hall trustees. I had been pressing for such a meeting for some time and we discussed the outstanding issues such as the lack of formal accounts being complete for these last few years. Home in time to update this day’s journal before a drink and to bed.
