Better news about Diana’s car damage and both Debbie and Della had friends coming round and so the place was full of girls that never stopped wrestling, swimming, screaming and shouting. The weather was quite cold today with a chilly breeze but it stayed dry and the pool was warm and in excess of 80degF.
Debbie had four friends due to stay all day and all night for a "sleep-over" and I helped them set up the tennis net on the games lawn. More chores and work for me as I completely forgot the Village Hall A.G.M.
Still getting up rather too late in the morning but Sam remains quite flexible and had another good day. It was a good day for the rest of us as well. We had a call from the lady who dented Diana's car first thing and she at last conceded that an examination of her car revealed a scuff mark on her bumper and so she must have done the damage in the Waitrose Car Park!. We agreed that Di's car be taken into Hunts Motors for examination today with a view to getting it repaired at her cost and that came as a great relief to Di who had not taken the precaution of recording the witness's details. I had succeeded in bluffing the lady into admission.

Once the dog had been fed and walked, we took her car in and also dropped off several sacks of rubbish at St Neots Amenity Tip, including one very full of Sam's collected droppings that was very heavy and "high"! I returned home to do some work and Diana went on to so some food shopping at Tesco in Bedford. Today was the day that both Debbie and Della had friends coming round and so the place was full of girls. Della just had a school friend, Katie Hitchen, but they are both restless and energetic and never stop wrestling, swimming, screaming and shouting. Debbie had four friends due to stay all day and all night for a "sleep-over". I helped them set up the tennis net on the games lawn and played with them for a while and then left them to an afternoon and evening of tennis, swimming and television.
In fact the weather was quite cold today with a chilly breeze but it stayed dry and the pool was warm and in excess of 80degF so they did not mind. I was due to do them a barbecue but, in view of the weather, we had the sausages, burghers and chicken grilled and fried inside and they ate well. Besides looking after my daughters, their friends and the dog, I did quite a bit of correspondence including attending to the important business of my Norfolk Planning Permission and also my planned visit to Caithness. I rushed into St Neots later to do a tour of the building societies and pay some money into the childrens' post office trust accounts.
I was shattered this evening as the full effects of the jet-lag had still not worn off; and I completely forgot the Village Hall A.G.M. It was only when going to bed after staying up late to watch my favourite film ("The Sting") on TV again, that I saw message lights flashing on my answering machine and remembered. I saw the first house martins today, having heard a nightingale the day before, and so the better weather cannot be far away.
