Continuing our cruise from Stokesby across Breydon Water to and mooring at Burgh Castle to walk and view the Saint Peter & Saint Paul Church. Then on under St Olaves Bridge, Somerleyton Swing Bridge to stop at the Waveney Inn for the night.
A good night in Stokesby as Sam slept and settled well and we all enjoyed the berths. I finished updating the reminder of my charts for latest alterations which gives me a full set for The Humber to Dover; our largest possible cruising range. Diana was up with the automatic central heating and, after she made me a cup of tea, I washed, shaved and then went out to feed and walk Sam. Breakfast of fine croissants and then we set off; me ensuring that all of the children played their part in the work needed on board.

We approached Yarmouth with an ebb tide still carrying us forward and had trouble staying out of the way of the cruisers correctly coming upstream at that time. Plenty of room under the bridge and then we opened up the engines to cruise at seven knots as we crossed the middle of Breydon Water. It was a busy time for boat traffic in both directions and the main channel must have looked like a motorway from the air. The wind was still from the northern quarter and was pushing all of the craft off course but I used the autopilot and kept a nice level course.
We were able to find a mooring place at Burgh Castle and stopped there to give Sam a walk over the old ancient monument and then have lunch at the pub. I also went to the local church with Debbie which is in sad need of repairs due to attacks of the Death Watch Beetle. Onward and upstream, under St Olaves Bridge, Somerleyton Swing Bridge and then we were able to cruise along to the Waverney Inn and stop there overnight. Another walk and feed for Sam and then the whole family went for a swim in the leisure centre. We were pleased to go but found the changing rooms all messy and the swimming pool cloudy and cool and wonder how hard the management tries to please its clientele. Back to the boat for the night as the rain started again.
