After a fine night’s sleep, preparing to take the family to Norfolk and briefing the gardener on work to do in our absence. Then, on arrival, taking the girls for a dip in the Horning Leisure Centre pool and also a trip to Wroxham library.
Di mowed the lawns with our good lawn mower and I started up the strimmer and completed half of the task before dusk. It was around 11.00pm by the time I packed up and turned in for the night by which time the house had cooled down quite a lot after the summer's hottest day of the year so far.
I slept better than for several nights passed, having got to bed by 10.30pm for a change. The only interruption was to be awoken by the cool breeze coming from the wide-open French windows which I had to get up and shut at 3.00am.

Diana and the girls were right ready with their packing and also packed my things so that I could concentrate on completing my outstanding desk-work and then loading up the car with tools and equipment for my time in Norfolk.
I slipped into upsetting the neighbours again then by shooting a wood pigeon on my riverside land with an air rifle but I do not see why I should forgo perfectly legal activities just because my neighbours do not like it. Calls a plenty to political colleagues about the campaign in my absence and from Gary Webb about some gold being recovered by St Neots police from a burglar suspected of stealing them from Cambridge Street.
Was still at home at lunch-time when Daniel arrived back and so made myself some sardine sandwiches and a mug of tea and rested a while. Chatted to Dan and also to the gardener who was back from holiday for the first time today and looking for instructions. Left for Horning in mid-afternoon after several telephone calls to Diana so as not to forget anything between us.
The girls enjoyed a dip in the Horning Leisure Centre pool and also a trip to Wroxham library. After having tea and walking Sam in the cool of the evening, I joined Di in doing some gardening. She mowed the lawns with our good lawn mower and I started up the strimmer and completed half of the task before dusk.
The family were already in bed as I was the last one to use the bath and then sat up to write up today's journal and have my bedtime snack. It was around 11.00pm by the time I packed up and turned in for the night by which time the house had cooled down quite a lot after the summer's hottest day of the year so far.
