A late departure from Norfolk after the viability of saving the old Heronshaw and then home in mid-afternoon to a family that had been missing me. I was home in mid-afternoon and, for once, was welcomed by the family who are beginning to miss me on these trips (particularly when I forget to leave the shed key behind etc!). There was not much time for a cup of tea before we had to rush off to Kimbolton to see Debbie perform in her "Upper Operetta". It was all about a hospital and a musical comedy and we were proud to see Debbie as one of the titled cast for the first time rather than just being part of the company. It went on very late and we were quite tired on our return home. Bush is starting to shake up NATO and Gorbachev is having to defend his reforms from attacks by his more conservative colleagues. Nelson Mandela is visiting the UK and plunges into a controversy by suggesting the government have talks with the IRA. The weather is fine today but a more unsettled spell is on the way.
