After a full English breakfast at The Anchor Inn, Tempsford, we cruised up to Willington Lock and then took a taxi to go shopping and to the library in Bedford before watching the Robin Hood film and cruising back to The Anchor at Tempsford
The night was fine and so were the starting arrangements for the day. We all used the aft shower in turn and then went into The Anchor for a full English breakfast. This morning, we continued upstream, locking through Roxton, Barford and ending up mooring just below Willington Lock. We walked to the garden centre for lunch and a look round before telephoning for a taxi to take us to Bedford. Some shopping there and a rendezvous back at Bedford library where the girls had been quite happy reading the books.
The shuttle bus stopping outside Beales then took us within walking range of the multi-screen cinema where we watched a modern film about Robin Hood which was quite an epic if a bit violent for the children. Then a taxi back to Willington and the remainder of the time until dusk, cruising back to The Anchor at Tempsford. At Barford, they had cleared a lot of the bankside vegetation and the Ouse Valley River Club and the Bedford Boat Club were having a combined Rally near Barford Lock which made the river quite busy. I wrote up this last couple of days journal later on, keeping everyone up in the process, and also rigged up a much better bracket for the omni-directional TV aerial before turning in and tried it out for good measure. Daniel and Angela are helping with the boat but Debbie is doing very little.
