Sam had spent a reasonable night in his new abode but was understandably nervous and howling from time to time. I resisted the temptation to go to him until this morning when he started up again at dawn and, after my breakfast, I went and fed him and then did some more simple tasks with him. When not bored or uncooperative, he comes to heel and is starting to sit once he arrives. I tried the short lead and the extending lead which was less successful but he wears the collar without complaint. The pity was that he got here at 7.00pm and continued on until 11.00pm keeping me up. It was after 11.30pm before I got to bed and the dog settled down which probably the reason that prompted Mrs Burton opposite to be telephoning Doris next door trying to get hold of me.

The weather has continued wild, wet and windy but the air is quite mild really and with no frost, the day would not have been too bad without the wind. There is to be an investigation into the use of public money to pay for the Chancellor's legal costs in evicting a sex therapist from his private house. The Maastricht Bill was delayed by filibustering tactics as Mr Bill Cash M.P. talked for the whole of the first session on the first of very many amendments.
