Combining work, shopping with watching Sam and settling him into his new kennel which was delivered today. The building inspector would not need to visit Harnser again and would issue a completion certificate soon.

Sam had spent a reasonable night in his new abode but was understandably nervous and howling from time to time. I resisted the temptation to go to him until this morning when he started up again at dawn and, after my breakfast, I went and fed him and then did some more simple tasks with him. When not bored or uncooperative, he comes to heel and is starting to sit once he arrives. I tried the short lead and the extending lead which was less successful but he wears the collar without complaint. I was learning the right way to mix his food which is with warm water and milk and giving it a little time to soak in first. The Norfolk kennel was delivered and erected this morning and I was glad that I had laid out the paving slabs last night.

The man came with his wife and she was very taken with Sam. It just about arrived in time as he had just learnt how to leap over the top of the pen! Once he was installed within the new kennel, he had a new reason to howl but I left him fed and watered again and drove to Wroxham to buy the building materials that we wanted and to get some lunch at the same time. This made a welcome relief from the noise and responsibility and, when I stopped the car quietly on my return to listen out for Sam, he had quietened down and was getting used to his new home. Some of the afternoon trying to get some building work done and then a telephone call to the building inspector who gave me the good news that he did not need to visit Harnser again and would issue a completion certificate soon.
The new guest bed would be ready from Bonds and will be delivered on Thursday and the carpet will be fitted on Tuesday as arranged making the occupation later in the week a real possibility. The decorator was here again this evening completing the lining of the upstairs room after preparing more of the walls. The pity was that he got here at 7.00pm and continued on until 11.00pm keeping me up. It was after 11.30pm before I got to bed and the dog settled down which probably the reason that prompted Mrs Burton opposite to be telephoning Doris next door trying to get hold of me.
The weather has continued wild, wet and windy but the air is quite mild really and with no frost, the day would not have been too bad without the wind. There is to be an investigation into the use of public money to pay for the Chancellor's legal costs in evicting a sex therapist from his private house. The Maastricht Bill was delayed by filibustering tactics as Mr Bill Cash M.P. talked for the whole of the first session on the first of very many amendments.
