Puppy Sam and his new kennel
Puppy Sam and his new kennel

Further day of work and tending Sam, starting early in the pouring rain and gale force winds, grooming and playing with him after which he settled down.

This, whilst I updated yesterday's journal as the first entry for December. Di had a visit from Chas, Chris and the girls and I spoke to Debbie and helped with her Chemistry homework.

I had set my alarm radio to wake me at 6.30am again but was rather groggy from the late night and did not manage to get out before Sam started barking again at dawn. This was around 7.15am this morning as the rain was pouring down and gale-force winds were blowing to make a right storm of it. I made Sam's food with warm water and milk and then exercised him for a while in the garden before feeding him in the garage where it was lighter and more sheltered. I spent an hour with him, calling him to heel by name, command, sign and whistle and then groomed him and played with him for the rest of a full hour before putting him back in his kennel and run at 8.30am.

He whined for about twenty minutes and then settled down to sleep and was quiet whilst I updated yesterday's journal as the first entry for December and started archiving that for November. I took Sam out for several car trips today, getting him quite used to this and doing some chores at the same time. During these, I spotted two groups of some 30 or more ornamental geese called Japanese Geese and telephoned Alan Gidding about them. It seems that these are not on the permitted list for shooting, but I thought I also saw some Greylag and Canada which certainly are and it is progress to see them now feeding on the fields. Diana had a visit from Chas, Chris and their girls today and, whilst she had been dreading it, found it went well. I called her and also spoke to Debbie who I helped with her chemistry homework.
