It was not the worst of nights for me as I only heard Sam wake up at 5.30am and then lay in afterwards to eventually feed and exercise him from 8.00am onwards. Unfortunately, he had fouled his kennel compartment and this will be another lesson for him to learn but I think I will let him out for toilet before I retire next time and use the opportunity to clean out his run and kennel so he is comfortable for the night. Better news was his performance on the lead as he is now walking without pulling with good fear of the choke chain. He is also better learning "No" but still disobeys too many "Heel" commands.

I let him have another large meal and 45min run and am amazed by the amount of food and droppings that he has. He then settled into his kennel without too much fuss allowing me to update yesterday's journal and marshal my thoughts for this morning's trip to the vet. He was very good in the car this morning, actually going to sleep so that when I arrived at the vet I could leave him in the car until they were nearly ready to see him. He was examined as well as getting his first inoculation. His eyes, ears and all else were pronounced good and he was thought to be a big fellow but the vet heard a heart murmour with the stethoscope which was worrying. She will listen again at the time of his second injection in two weeks time as very often puppies grow out of this. He was still messing in his run overnight, some of it being quite loose, and so I decided to cut down on his feed and not serve it so mushy to see if that made a difference.
While I was out today, I bought a black plastic dustbin and lid to keep the poop-scoop bags in. The decorator was lining the kitchen this evening and I tackled the door strips first, sanding them down and then applying the single undercoat/gloss to finish them off. I worked until very late in the evening, staining the staircase ready for the carpet to be laid the next day. It was a milder day after all of the recent bad weather and the change for the better was particularly welcome. The Moslem/Hindu religious and racial violence is rising with mutual attacks on places of worship and revenge killings. The trouble has actually spread to this country with a Hindu mosque burned to the ground in the Midlands.
