After a long walk with Sam with my foot recovering, first to Jewson’s for hinges, bolts and fixings for the new gate and then off for Debbie's optician appointment in Norwich.
Back to Horning for the Regatta and review of the pleasure wherries as Daniel returns for an evening at Horning Yacht Club for a Regatta Social, Casino Night.
The forecast was for a bright start with rain later and so we were out early on to make the best of it. I awoke early in any case; thinking of all the things that I wanted to get in Norwich, and soon Sam was awake and whining for his food and exercise. A longish walk (my foot healing slowly) around the marsh roads and then along to the village for milk and a paper. Back for breakfast and a read before I could get out to do some measurements for our shopping list. The girls aboard and then first to Jewson’s for hinges, bolts and fixings for the new gate. Diana was worried about getting to on time and so I drove her straight there and Della stayed with me to park the car and walk back.

Morning coffee and snacks in Olivers, then to the building societies and Halfords for car-cleaning things. I took the plunge and bought a very high-pressure cleaning pump for boat and car and look forward to trying it out soon with Daniel. To Wroxham for lunch at the riverside cafe, some more shopping at Roy’s and then back to Horning in time for the afternoon festivities. We viewed all three of the wherries; Pleasure Wherry Hathor, and Wherry Yachts Olive and Norada which were moored for inspection at Horning and enjoyed the experience. I was particularly impressed with Hathor (pronounced "Heartor") and would like to be the proud owner of it with a crew as well.
Then the Magic Lantern show of times gone by, and a puppet show on the village green for the children whilst Diana and I took afternoon tea in The Olde Tea Shoppe. Home for a salad tea, a walk for Sam and then Daniel arrived and helped me for a while recovering the large gate from the back of the storage pile and bolting hinges on it. The evening at Horning Yacht Club for a Regatta Social, Casino Night. For £1, each participant received £20,000 of stake money and played on a variety of gaming tables for fun. At the end of the evening, the winnings were used for an auction for minor prizes.
After her initial shyness and reluctance, Della did well and ended up with a good prize of pin-ball games; the product of a successful bid of £167,000. The weather had stayed fine all this time but showered this evening. Even so it was fine again for our trip back to Harnser in The Jolly. Daniel, arrived starving hungry from lack of money but seemed in good health and spirits. The sad news was of his relationship with Dawn being relegated to that of being "just friends" after her holiday.
