Completing my Reliant service with Daniel’s help and then clearing away the debris in time for the arrival of the Brownies at The Hayling View as Daniel and Jason played tennis on the games lawn.
Michael Heseltine looks very ill after his heart attack and Early promise of good play from British tennis players at Wimbledon has fizzled out.
I arranged for an early call as I had lots to do and wanted to avoid doing them in the heat of the day if I could possibly help it. It worked and I had fed Sam and taken him for a run before eating breakfast with the girls. Some time in my office, making telephone calls to arrange for my MOT tomorrow, ask for advice on the Harnser problem (which I managed) and to try to get an eye test appointment (which I could not). I had put some old clothes on for my day's endeavour and was soon under the old Reliant, greasing all of the points with my high pressure and flexible grease guns. I had extracted Daniel from the lounge and got him to read the items from my service checklist as I was hopelessly messy by this time and could not do both.

Daniel then started working on his car (repairing a loudspeaker in his back parcel shelf again!) and so we worked together for a while. We even took a trip to St Neots motor accessory shop and bought some things together. A full day at it, clearing away the debris in time for the arrival of the Brownies at The Hayling View. It was the annual Brownie swim in our pool and they had a fantastically hot day and enjoyed it thoroughly. The Brownie Pack has a full complement with a small waiting list and the new arrivals seem so tiny! The 32 were divided into two groups with one swimming and the other playing Bingo before swapping over. Diana was all set for this to be the last time they would come but I persuaded her that we should continue the invitation even though she was giving up as a regular Brownie helper.
Out with the dog again, then some tea before going back to do some final checks on Percy ready for the morning. Wholesale changes were announced for the England cricket team to do battle for the next few games against Australia, with youth the key for the future. The three year jail sentence for the Norfolk "vigilantes" (who had kidnapped and threatened a youth suspected of theft) was reduced to six-months on appeal. Poor Michael Hezeltine looks very ill after his heart attack and I doubt if he can resume his role as President of the Board of Trade. Michael Mates, hounded out of junior office due to his links with fraud-case fugitive Azil Nadir, will make a personal statement in the House of Commons tomorrow.
Early promise of good play from British tennis players at Wimbledon has fizzled out. At least the week of sunny weather has suited everyone. No sign of Steven today; nor of my replacement 2000i interface arriving. Daniel had Jason round later to work on his car and play tennis on the games lawn and Sam did some more retrieving of the balls for them.
