Working on outboards and navigational systems as Daniel and Gary visited and we borrowed tools from Jack on a dry and sunny day with a chill northerly breeze.
I find the routine at Horning pleasurable but hard. It is nice to be able to get on with the jobs but the overhead of feeding and running the dog on the one hand and catering for myself on the other somewhat detracts from the endeavour. I worked away at all this first thing, and it was mid-morning before I could get on with my projects. For the most part this was updating the routes and waypoints from my corrected charts and then typing these onto the computerised route planner and printing out the resulting list.

From Paxton to Horning on a fine and sunny today with a cool breeze and, as Steve was not available, I met up with Daniel and Gary and we worked on his boat.
They had helped me try out the vehicle winch and it worked perfectly so should be of great reassurance in Scotland.
We still had a trip on The Jolly to The New Inn for a snack dinner and pint after I had spent some time giving Sam a walk.
I made the decision fairly early today that I should go back to Heronshaw and continue working on the boat and its charts and systems. I called Steve but he had an interview this week and so I planned to leave on my own and link up with Daniel. First the morning routine and was disappointed that Sam was spooked again by the dreaded milk float, but we still had a reasonable walk together and saw the girls off to school. Some essential correspondence, telephone calls and paperwork and then a trip into St Neots with Diana, buying her lunch at Brackenbury's and helping her by carrying some shopping.

Celebrating Fathers Day at home after walking Sam, enjoying a fine fried breakfast surprise and then taking Di to watch the film "Indecent Proposal" in the evening
I lay in quite well after getting to sleep quite late but Diana was up and brought me a cup of tea on so-called "Father's Day". No sign of the girls and so out to feed and walk the dog and I gave him a good run and had no trouble. In fact, on a warm and sunny morning, I took the retrieving dummy and got him to do some work which included a full swimming water retrieve.

A long walk with the dog before Daniel came over to Horning and we enjoyed a boat trip together. After he left. I then drove home to Paxton. The new Land Rover Discovery is still driving well. Home in time to unpack, greet the girls and get ready for bed with Diana but little else.
I slept well enough after again managing to get sufficient ventilation without the accompanying gnats. Another long walk for the dog; keeping a close eye on him this time after recent experiences. Then back to do a mountain of washing up before settling down to the task of updating the navigational charts for the latest quarter's changes. I got on quite well before first Jack arrived for a chat and then later Daniel came over again.
