The day working on The Paxton Princess with Steve, and then taking a cruise down the river, stopping at The New Inn on the way back for a drink of shandy and some titbits.
Sam had been quite good today; obedient and always coming when called, but he still tries to "taste" people with his mouth which is quite disconcerting.
An early start to the day, getting up at 7.00am and out with the dog by 7.30am. Steven was already hard at work on the cabin of The Paxton Princess and we joined up for breakfast of fried venison sausages, bacon, egg and tomato which we both enjoyed. I then tackled the boat mechanics with Steve concentrating on the outside structure. I changed the engine oil, then the filters and finally the fuel filters as well. These are dirty and difficult jobs due to the confined space and disgusting state of diesel engine oil.

The day of Sam's vet visit and the renovation of the Paxton Princess with a new domestic battery bank fitted. Daniel came by this afternoon to run his speed boat before rushing back to see Startrek on Satellite TV!
I had an unsettled night and found myself awake at around 4.00am before getting back to sleep. Steven woke me up at 7.15am so as to get Sam's food organised and then I got up and joined him for breakfast before giving the dog the remainder of his run. Then the rush into Norwich to get Sam to his pre-arranged appointment with the vet but the verdict was a happy one when he arrived as he was seen to be recovering. However, because he still had his spots, he was prescribed another week's supply of antibiotics, but it was left to me whether to bring him back again for another examination.

Seeing the girls off to school, walking Sam and then some financial meetings. Then setting off from Paxton to Horning having collected Steven from Sawtry who then did some food shopping for us and cooked a fine meal of surf and turf.
It was another hot and humid day with pollen levels sky high for hay fever sufferers. I was awake quite early as Diana brought me a drink but I had to wait for some time for her to clear the bathroom before I could get washed and shaved ready for breakfast. I went in and helped to get Della up, thinking that she might have a few traumas getting back to school. A wrestle and some jokes and she was up quite easily and we all ate breakfast together after which I gave her a "piggy-back" to the lounge.

A day working at home in my office, balancing bank accounts and making calls. Chasing Nigel about our Cambridge Street project after seeing the girls off to the bus stop with Sam.
The final day in the first Test Match in which England lost a match they could well have saved
A day to stay at home and work away at my backlog of paperwork but still I did not tackle the filing that has become a real problem. Diana woke me with my morning tea and then I had breakfast with the girls before getting out with Sam to see them off on the bus. Della went without any trouble despite looking a bit tattered with her plucked eyelashes. She seems popular at school at the moment and is continually invited to go places by other girls. Two long walks with Sam today and, the weather being very hot again, I got him to go swimming after sticks in the gravel pits to cool down.
