A relaxing time for us in Yarmouth

Stokesby to Burgh Castle via Great Mouth of the River Yar. This after the night of a worst thunderstorm imaginable with constant lightening, loud thunder and continuous heavy rain.

Our overnight stay in Stokesby was accompanied by just about the worst thunderstorm imaginable with constant lightening, loud thunder and continuous heavy rain. Up in a brighter spell which looked set until it showered again as I walked Sam before breakfast.

There was nothing else for it but to leave downstream in the Paxton Princess which we did in slightly better weather. We arrived at the now-defunct Great Yarmouth Marina with the rain starting again and so, after waiting a while for it to stop, we opted to take the long walk along North Beach sand-dunes. It was a long walk but a good one for both Sam and the family.

It was coming on to rain heavily again whilst we were half way there but we chances upon a beach cafe that was more than welcoming. In fact they had a sign outside that said "Dogs Welcome - humans too!" and so Sam was able to come in out of the rain and lay under our chairs whilst we ate a nice meal. A relaxing time for us in Yarmouth with me having some seafood, the girls enjoying time at Joyland and then a look around the shops before setting off back.

Sam was very good amongst the crowds of people and other dogs that had all come out to enjoy the belated sun. Once back at the marina, the girls enjoyed a little time on the adventure playground in the nearby park whilst Diana made the tea. After our meal, we put everything down on the boat and went for the Bure bridges and were well clear of them for air draft when we arrived.

The cruise across Breydon Water as the rain started again and then moored up at Burgh Castle after which Diana and I had a short walk in the evening sunshine before turning in. The girls watched a film on TV whilst I updated my journal and Diana had an early night before the lights went off and we all joined her.
