Leaving Anaheim on the Freeway via St Clemente for breakfast and then to the The Seven Seas Hotel in San Diego.
Then by car to the Embarcadero, where there was a display of classic ships including the Star of India. Enjoying the hot and sunny weather. Later, phoning Wiggly finding her much more settled than of late
I was the first awake today and was keen to start the day and get my UK messages at the same time.

I had to persuade the family of the wisdom of getting up at 5.00am in the morning but it did make more sense to do this and by retiring at 9.00pm, it also meant less time-lag adjustment when we get back home and used our ability to get up early and avoid congestion and there was nothing for us after dark anyway.
A nice message for me, with Wiggly sounding much more positive and able to cope. It was a long job, getting the family up and packed so that we could load the car and get away. I opted to get out of Anaheim on the Freeway and on the way to San Diego, thinking of stopping on the way.
I did not get it quite right as the freeways were jammed with rush-hour traffic and accident congestion but we came off the freeway and stopped eventually at San Clemente for a nice breakfast with a sea view. That is, it would have been nice if it were not for Della playing us up and insisting on ordering expensive food that she could not eat.
We drove on to arrive at Hotel Circle, San Diego, where there was a host of competing hotels, all with vacancies and we took our pick to find one with a laundry, free local phones and interconnecting rooms at a discount rate for $35 each interconnecting room. Part of the Best Western Group, it was The Seven Seas Hotel.
Once in, I settled down to the telephone and managed to connect up with no trouble for my voice and Email credit calls. It was nice to exchange messages with Wiggly and to actually speak to her on the 'phone; finding her much more settled than of late. T
ime also to update my journal whilst the girls had a swim in the hotel pool and Diana checked out the guest laundry and Di our washing for the second half of the holiday. Once we had all finished, we took off in the car to go to the Embarcadero, a small part of the port area where there was a display of classic ships including the Star of India, the oldest steel tall sailing ship that had taken settlers from England to New Zealand, coming back with cargo via California.
A meal at Denny's on the way back and an early night after a tiring day. I found first impressions of San Diego rather unfavourable with beggars hassling us on the Embarcadero as a turn off. At least to the Embarcadero, a small part of the port area where there was a display of classic ships including the Star of India,
