More than 40 years, told day by day
An early walk with Sam on a warm and sunny day before dropping off the Discovery for service in Norwich and then welcoming Frank Reader to make the Harnser pump repair.
Diana off Cromer with the girls in the evening to see "Mrs Doubtfire" whilst I watched TV football and listened to radio coverage of the Third Test.
John Major was humiliated in the House of Commons today as he announced the cabinet had decided to accept the new E.E.C. voting terms.
It was mild overnight and my bed seemed a little creased and uncomfortable but I still slept well for a good rest. The alarm clock woke us at 7.00am and, after a quick wash and mug of tea, I was out with Sam for a short walk to get back for the other things we needed to do. Diana and I drove in separate cars to Cromer Road, Norwich, where I left the Discovery for a 24,000 mile service.

After briefing the Hayling View gardener and handyman, hosting D I’s parents for morning coffee and then leaving Paxton for Norfolk only to find pump problems at Harnser.
The water level had been higher than I had expected but everything else was all right. Tea at home and then the drive to Cromer where we saw "Beethoven II" at the cinema and all the family enjoyed it.
The horrific news story today of a man walking into a school with a knife and stabbing young girls in a class to actually kill one and seriously injure another. Government ministers continue to make speeches preparing the cabinet for a climb down on E.E.C. voting.
I had not really got used to the new time standard this morning and so remained tired from my lack of sleep the night before last. Still gamely up and out anyway with Sam who was still all right after his recent tummy upset. It was raining off and on today and even milder than of late but I found a drier spell to be out with Sam.

Off with Jim and his dog to the German Short-haired Pointer Association Championship Show at Coventry. for Sam to win the first prize despite being the only entry.
Then back to celebrate Daniel's 22nd Birthday before watching England beat the West Indies cricket team.
Manchester United's dreams of a football treble were dashed by Aston Villa who beat them in today's cup final match.
The dogs eventually settled down and Jim and I got ourselves up at 6.00am to give them a walk before we set off for the German Short-haired Pointer Association Championship Show at Coventry. Fortunately, Sam's tummy upset seemed to have passed and there was no problem in his kennel or in Jim's car on the way.

Sam's tummy upset dominated the day as Jim arrived later with Ben to share his kennel. Together to Thetford Forestry Commission for an interesting talk on the problems of growing trees and protecting them from pests. Later, following England Test progress.
It was clearer and a little cooler as the sun came out. Problems overnight for Sam as he had a tummy upset and messed the blankets in his kennel for the first time in ages. I was concerned about him, took things gently and then called Jim to warn him and seek advice.

On a day that started rainy, I spent it at home fitting wire mesh to the dovecote preparing for Jim’s new dove arrivals. A trip up to Peterborough after lunch to get Sam some more dog food and I took him hunting across the Manor Farm, Molesworth.
Several telephone calls today to LibDem political activists getting them to agree roles and actions in the forthcoming campaign
Although the day started with rainy spells, it got better, and I was able to get out to do some work on my pole-cote. I fashioned a cage of wire mesh around this dovecote ready for the arrival of four new pure white fantail doves that I expect to arrive with Jim on Sunday morning.

As the new gardener does well, completing year end administration and then chairing an election planning meeting with two good new candidates joining us after a busy day. A couple of useful walks with Sam who is daily getting better with his waterwork and dummy-holding.
Another fine day as the gardener came and mowed & strimmed the grass for once, now that the garden is starting to grow again. Diana had agreed that Debbie could have Tabatha to stay and Della had her friend Michelle Brown and so we had our hands full.
