Day interviewing and managing executives as I keep the takeover pot boiling and write to NEDO about industry affairs before the Comart board reports arrive and I spend a relaxing evening with my ducks an a tired family
A fair lay in after a cooler night, breakfast of cereal, toast and fruit juice and then on time to Grove House to prepare for the visit of Jacques Samuels. He arrives at 9.00am and I brief him fully for an hour on our requirements for a Group Personnel Manager. Afterwards to speak to Peter Smith and Stephen Day of Kode who are not now coming up to see Peter King or getting a copy of the revised agreement into his hands for the weekend. It seems again that they are ordering priorities elsewhere and also content to slow down the resolution of these matters with the great dangers that such a course involves.

Summer Solstice day, typically sunny and fine, as I plan some meetings and arrangements and interviews before the upset of learning about Daniels theft of money from me for sweets as controversy causes Lloyds of London to compensate Names
Early to the office and some time opening all of the windows and ensuring the heating was on for the cellars and off for the rest of Grove House. The recent hot and humid weather had led to considerable condensation on the cellar floors but today the weather, whilst still sunny and fine, developed a cool breeze to the relief of all. Several phone calls with various parties arranging a meeting with Jaques Samuels tomorrow, arranging the Byte Shop Review Meeting for Tuesday afternoon and actioning BMMG business over membership and representation to NEDO. On this latter point we are resolved to be more active as the organisation are approaching the Commission on the 28th and must be briefed with our news.

To London on another hot day for the Council Meeting for the BMMG and then lunch with Nigel as the new Chairman before catching up with messages and watching TV football as excessive police behaviour in the miners’ dispute is reported to the DPP
A slow start to another hot day and then off by car to Stevenage and on by train to Kings Cross. By coincidence John Lamb and Paul Coombe were also on the 9.06 train, going to a CCTA briefing on confidential development plans. For me I took a taxi from Kings X (after collecting some money from the nearest Barclays Bank and paying in my expenses cheque) to White Lion Street N1 and the offices of Shelton Instruments where we were holding a Council Meeting of the BMMG.

A hot and sticky but less tense and more enjoyable day (as John Lamb now takes up more of the strain) and an evening walk with Diana to St Neots Common as there is more industrial confrontation over the miners and the Liberal/SDP Alliance get no Euro seats for their 17% of the vote
Up at the normal time, a breakfast of toast and apple juice and then a walk to my car at Grove House. A quiet morning, making and receiving telephone calls, dealing with the reduced mail of my new situation, and planning. I resolve how to handle the entry of Comart Computers Ltd into the Pension Scheme, the forward programme of events for the BMMG Committees, and the details of the deal that will now be offered to Peter King and probably accepted. I hear that Geoff Lynch had a good meeting with Kode last night and will sign his newly drafted agreement on Friday.
