After attending the birds and fish, laying a Christmas Wreath for Dad on his grave at 11am, re-erecting the Bishop’s Christmas Tree and then welcoming two boys who wanted to admire the carp in my conservatory pond.
A very relaxing day as I was slow up and then attended to the birds and fish. Di went early for her last-minute Christmas Shopping. Later in the morning, I loaded up the Range Rover and Diana joined me for a drive up to the cemetery to lay the Christmas Wreath on Dad's grave. It was a wild and windy day but it was nice laying the wreath and doing so at 11.00am, the time we had told Mum and Freda so that their thoughts would be with him as well. We also took some photographs for good measure.

Some outside chores on behalf of the gardener and then to exchange Christmas cards with our family before leaving for Bar Hill, Cambridge, where we had been invited for coffee with Di's family to exchange more presents.
Home via Happy Eater for drinks and some toast for the children and then the last of our visits as we attended St James Church for a carol service, going home to wrap up more presents afterwards
A long and tiring day which started quite early with the chores on behalf of the gardener. The weather was still mild as I went out to tend the doves and pond filter, but a breeze was blowing. In North-Western England, they had been experiencing flooding as the rivers burst their banks but it is much quieter here. I exchanged Christmas Cards with my immediate family at breakfast and was a bit upset with Diana for starting this without warning when my cards were not written and ready. The car loaded up with presents and family, and then we left for Bar Hill, Cambridge, where we had been invited for coffee with Di's family.

Tired after a late night and early morning on a really mild day for once and to start writing my Christmas cards which Debbie helped me deliver later to Little Paxton and Hail Weston and I did the rest to Eaton Socon, Southoe, Buckden, Offord and St Neots. In between times, I tended the swimming pool for the winter, delivered a large pile of newspapers to Sally’s Priory Re-Cycling collection and worked on this journal.
The staggering news from the Soviet Union is of that state being disbanded by its constituent republics so that Russian leader Boris Yeltzin wants Michael Gorbachev's United Nations Security Council Seat with the future of Soviet nuclear arsenal and overseas embassies also issues. This is a worry for the West.
Di woke me up early after my very late night and that was a rather unsettling start to the day as I sat up in bed blinking with a headache. Sometime after breakfast to write my Christmas Cards for posting and then I loaded up the Range Rover with two month's waste newspapers and drove off down to the Priory Re-Cycling collection. Once home, I went out to the garden to do the chores which consisted of not only the doves and pool filter but also pumping out sufficient water from the swimming pool to reduce the level to normal.

Two setbacks as we had the scare of Della falling over backwards from her crutches and needing hospital advice and then us finding our garage freezer switched off and a small fortune of food being spoilt. The City of London had a further surprise today as the U.S. reduced its interest rates by a full point which meant that U.K. firms would be at a disadvantage to their US competitors.
Earlier, I had worked my round St Neots completing some savings applications and getting some Christmas presents. Later, I prepared my mailing to the Broads Authority Planning Committee members prior to their Heronshaw site visit in the new year
Daniel left for Cheshire to see Angela and her family, and I retired to my office to get the savings transactions ready for taking to St Neots after lunch. I took Debbie with me then and left her in the library as I worked my way round the post office and other places to get my chores done. I finished off with getting some cards and small presents for the family before collecting Debbie and returning home. The City of London had a further surprise today as the U.S. reduced its interest rates by a full point which meant that U.K. firms would be at a disadvantage against American companies whilst being tied to European borrowing rates and terms of trade. The Stock Exchange fell.
