Out of the house on a sunny and still day after our restful Christmas and to Bedford for shopping when I bought Diana a Wedding Anniversary present and card and then back there for the cinema with Della and Diana to watch "Curly Sue" which was a very good film that the three of us enjoyed.
Many western nations were now recognising the individual independence of the new Russian Commonwealth of Independent States but, under the leadership of Boris Yeltzin, there were already signs of disunity and conflict over defence and the economy
Something of a lay in and then breakfast for the whole family together for a change as we were due a trip to Bedford this morning. Time for me to tend the doves and fish and then we set off, parking and starting with coffee on arrival. I let the others go their own way for shopping and I tried to go to the Peacock's Auction Showroom but it was closed this week with Christmas being in mid-week. Then bought Diana a Wedding Anniversary present and card and some guidebooks for France before meeting up with them all for lunch at the Pizza Hut.

A quiet Boxing Day recovering from the inevitable overeating of the season as Della was getting daily stronger and using her leg more but she combines this with her strong will-power which makes her rude and inconsiderate/naughty on occasions.
Debbie was able to go with the Law family roller-skating today and I watched some Rugby League on TV in the afternoon and let Della watch her cartoon programmes.
More of a lay in this morning as I awoke on my own around 8.00am. Some time in the toilet as my body caught up with all this over-eating and then to get showered and wash my hair before breakfast. Daniel was the last up and did not join the rest of us for breakfast, but the girls were there. The chores again and I found one of my Fantail Doves that had been caught and killed by a cat in the riverside garden. At least it was not one of the white ones that Diana likes so much.

A lovely traditional Christmas Day at home with all three ‘children’ awake and opening their presents happily. Mum called and reported that the sun came out at 11am yesterday at the time I was laying my wreath on Dad’s grave.
We had sat up until midnight waiting for the girls to fall sound asleep and then Diana brought their presents down and packed them into their "stockings". These were actually pillow cases and, even then, she had to pile the larger ones on top as there were so many. This morning, Debbie was the first to wake and then Di woke the rest of us at 7.15am and, after we had groggily come to, we all sat in the lounge as the children opened their presents.

There was a little frost today as the glass started rising again and the doves were very hungry, Although the day was cold, the sun was shining, and I had quite a pleasant walk around the riverside garden after which Mr Gwynn Drake came round and met us to agree terms for the purchase of Debbie's horse, Sundance. At noon, Diana’s family visited for some festive drinks and a meal.
We were a little livelier this morning as we had some things planned for the day. I still had to do my normal chores. There was a little frost today as the glass started rising again and the doves were very hungry, but their water was not frozen. Though the day was cold, the sun was shining, and I had quite a pleasant walk around the riverside garden. Coffee and then I decided to clear up the lounge. By moving the micro-computers to the playroom, and then clearing enough space to put down the rug, I could light the fire.
