The family join me in Norfolk after visiting Mum and collecting the Escort for Daniel. I eventually managed to bail out the water service trench for the plumber to connect Harnser.
I was then hopping about between Heronshaw and the Horning Staithe getting my boat in to save the quay space for tomorrow's wood arrival and car and trailer in position opposite
It poured with rain all night and I was despairing of ever getting the trench dug and the water and electricity services along it. It was still raining as I awoke and then, when I actually noticed it stop, I was out straight away with buckets and bailers emptying the excavations of the copious amounts of water that had accumulated. I had only just finished the baling and had started the trench when the workers arrived, and I got them to help me dig it as Dave Goodman had said that the plumber would be here this morning! David Birchinall did arrive at dinner time and was able to connect both ends of the water service pipe and so the first service was connected to the new building.

Deferring the inspector for a few days and organising a Stalham Joinery visit to try and resolve building design problems as we got on with the open boat house and landscape gravelling. It drizzled and poured today as we worked on exposing the water supply
In view of my problems with the building design, I called the inspector and put his visit off for a few days to give myself a breathing space. Discussed the whole position with the carpenter when he arrived and we decided to get the stair company, Stalham Joinery, to visit in case they could see a way round the problem without taking down some of our studwork. Then, with the Eastern Electricity heating lady delaying her visit until tomorrow, I just helped the two workmen to get on with the boat-house open section and then took time out to cover the area next to it with gravel and then start digging to find the water supply for the plumber to connect to the following day.

Spending time with Diana visiting MFI to plan the new Harnser kitchen and then visiting Texas Homecare in Biggleswade to see the bathroom sets, paints and wall-coverings. Then packing and setting off for Norfolk. I only just managed to get up to Heronshaw by 10.00pm and unloaded in the twilight and was then up late planning.
I was up quite early and went and got Diana and I a morning drink as I had a lot to do. To my desk for a while and more paperwork until I took Diana off to Bedford to see the Hygena DIY kitchens at M.F.I. We were pleasantly surprised at the price and quality available and, arriving at 10.00am, we had little competition for the assistant's time who spent nearly two hours showing us the range, configuring a kitchen to fit in the space, and then pricing the results in two styles. Home in time for lunch which Diana made whilst I returned to my work and then back out in the afternoon to Texas Homecare in Biggleswade to see the bathroom sets, paints and wall-coverings.

Returning to The Hayling View and its overdue administration as I tackled a stack of paperwork and rested from the hard physical work I had been undertaking in Horning. Struggle to get to the various offices for my building society and post office transactions but I also made it and renewed my motor insurance.
The small chance to play tennis with Debbie again drawn and plan a new kitchen for the Harnser boathouse with Diana. I had some fun at bedtime as she had been struggling with the girl’s behaviour in my absence.
The Hayling View had been kept going with Diana, Daniel and the gardener doing the chores between them but I had returned to a stack of paperwork. I was also tired and groggy after all of the hard physical work in Horning and so it was a while before I got down to it. Then the struggle to get my building society and post office transaction ready in time to arrive with them before their lunch-time close but I just did it; making the insurance brokers as well to renew my motor insurance. Home to lunch and then the chance to play Debbie at tennis on the game’s lawn. It had been rainy with showers for most of the day until then and it only held off for a little while so that we did not get much of a game even then. We were pleased to see Daniel at home and, him having taken Angela off to the station to go home for the day, he was able to see his friends and enjoyed their company.
