Executing my plans for the end of the tax year, with PEPs and TESSAs to "top-up" and Friendly Society tax-exempt schemes to investigate and another BES investment to make.
Then off to Norfolk, working on the Paxton Princess and reviewing the work of the contractor who had finished excavating the dyke extension for Harnser. Then working out the complete list of timber for the new boat-house as the weather turned cold with the wind from the north for my overnight stay in Horning
I had a hectic morning, working out and then executing my plans for the end of the tax year. I had PEPs and TESSAs to "top-up" and Friendly Society tax exempt schemes to investigate and, the biggest wheeze of all, another BES investment to make. But first I had to add up my income for the year and do some figures. This all complete, and lunch eaten, I loaded up the car and set off for Norfolk. I called in at Roys of Wroxham on the way and bought some plastic bins in the hope that I could make fridge liners out of them but they did not seem suitable once I tried them in the Paxton Princess on arrival.

Feeling cold after the weather took a turn for the worst overnight, being windy and wet as dawn broke. This rest day watching televised cricket and working on my financial affairs in between.
Catching John Grosvenor later and getting him to consider standing as the District Councillor in my stead before dropping off more leaflets for delivery in Hail Weston and Diddington. Nigel Mansell won in Mexico, his second world championship race in succession
I woke up feeling cold after the weather took a turn for the worst overnight. It was windy and wet as dawn broke and I was loath to get out of bed. I was still showered with hair washed when Diana called us for a breakfast of boiled egg but then had to get dressed afterwards. The morning spent watching the England's World Cup cricket team defeat South Africa in a closely-fought match ending in an anti-climax as the rain thwarted the other team.

A further day catching up and relaxing as all the driving and physical activity has been quite draining. It seems that I have upset Debbie grievously by commenting on her fringe being curly and she cried constantly!
We booked a three-day holiday at The Grand Hotel in Brighton for the family including Daniel and Angela next week at a cost of £800. Diana was looking after her baby niece, Crystal, this afternoon. The latest opinion polls have Labour several points ahead which is bad news for the Tories.
A good night’s sleep and I was still quite dead when Diana arrived with the morning tea. All of this driving and physical activity has been quite draining and my conscience over Sue Sutton debilitating. I was in my night things for quite some time, having breakfast with the children and reading the weekend's newspapers. It seems that I have upset Debbie grievously by commenting on her fringe being curly and that she has cried a half-dozen times since! I tried to console her to no effect.

I had not announced my presence at home as I had a host of work to do in catching up on a whole range of correspondence and administration. I discussed the Heronshaw planning agreement with solicitor John Koch of Taylor-Vinters who will now be negotiating the terms with the Broads Authority, faxed the structural surveyor with my latest , ordered the refrigeration equipment that will upgrade the boat fridge and authorised the new navigational interface to be installed.
After tea, I tried to get Parish Chairman, John Knight, to try to get him to stand for the District Council as my successor without success and then arrived quite late on to the adoption meeting for Sue Sutton at the Priory Centre. John Major, rattled by Kinnock's progress in this first week of the campaign, has changed his stance to that of a strident partisan politician rather than that of the nice prime minister and I think that is a mistake for the Tory strategists to make
I was soon down to it and discussing the Heronshaw planning agreement with solicitor John Koch of Taylor-Vinters who will now be negotiating the terms with the Broads Authority representatives. I faxed the structural surveyor with my latest thoughts and tried to get some timescales out of him and then wrote a de-briefing letter to the architects essentially standing them down with the criticism that they seemed unable to grasp the needs of economic reality. Letters to builders and then, turning to the boat, an order for refrigeration equipment that will upgrade the boat fridge to become much more efficient. Also to authorise the go-ahead for a new navigational interface to be installed.
