The trip to Cambridge with Diana this morning for coffee with her much-improved parents after first briefing the gardener and builder about work to do around the swimming pool in our absence now the pool-room shower and urinal were both working well. The walk over to the Grafton Centre for some shopping and then lunch of soup and salad in the Arts Theatre Restaurant and then home.
At last visiting Steven Bloom and reviewing Heronshaw with him and then agreeing that we should make an urgent visit to Horning to mark out the boat-shed and dyke. He was getting nowhere with the plans and was full of good intentions but seldom able to fulfil them which I think is part of the reason for him being out of work.
Off this evening to a Village Hall Meeting which went quite well, although I found myself having to do far too much of the talking.
I decided to join Diana for a shopping trip to Cambridge this morning but, before we could go, there were a few things to attend to. I had to complete my preparations, talk to the gardener and then see the builder started on the task of filling the large hole in the ground by the swimming pool. He had done this by the time we had returned and made a good job of cementing back the crazy paving stones smoothly for the swimmers' feet. Now, the pool-room shower and urinal are both working well and only the cosmetic work remains to be done. An uneventful drive to Cambridge and then our normal coffee with Di's parents. Norma is looking and sounding a lot better as she recovers from her cold, but we now hear that they are having to look after the children for a whole weekend whilst Charlie and Chrisula have a week-end in Brighton!

To St Neots for a few chores and coffee in Brackenbury’s and then to Peterborough to order traditional black and white number plates for my historic Reliant now that I had recovered the number CJW 986. Home via Brampton Garden Centre for a soup and salad lunch and then the afternoon laying out the final versions of the FOCUS adverts; that left us with more advertising revenue than ever before.
A delay planning the piling for Horning after Steven Bloom was delayed in Norway. Back home Percy tells me that he, too, has fallen out with the S.W.Cambs Campaign Team after the pollster who had been enquiring into our local constituency has given very little chance of success here as I anticipated. I spent a little time with my girls at bed-time today, pretending that Debbie's cuddly. "Lulie" was alive and working her like a puppet which they both appreciated.
Still tired this morning after my lost sleep on Saturday night. Opted to go into St Neots with Diana this morning and, after our morning coffee together in Brackenbury's, managed to do a few chores whilst she did the shopping in Waitrose. I then drove us off to Peterborough to visit the number plate manufacturers and there ordered some new plates for the Reliant. CJW 986 was its original 1939 number that I have managed to recover and I am getting the plates made of raised silver letters on a black background in the original format.

A relaxing day at home after a late night watching the cricket which started with Diana bringing me my morning tea as Debbie complained that she wanted to get going for her all-day party! This morning doing my chores, and feeling that the Rolls Royce ought to be disposed of.
A poor lunch of pies after Di burnt the roast lamb. The Tories were behind in the polls again and the IRA were widening their mainland bombing campaign to include civilian targets
I had stayed up far too late last night watching England getting into a dominant position against Pakistan in the cricketing World Cup. I was therefore glad of the lay in this morning as I was not woken up until after 8.30am when Diana brought me my morning tea. Unusually, she brought up her own coffee to drink at the same time and we sat there quite peacefully until Debbie came in and complained that we were not getting up early enough to help her get ready for an all-day party!
