Debbie had a bad leg and so Diana was thwarted in her plans to take both daughters to the dinosaur park

As my family stayed in Norfolk on another hot day but Debbie had a bad leg and so Diana was thwarted in her plans to take both daughters to the dinosaur park.

I left Horning to Paxton to review our Eynesbury election campaign and some of the problems that had arisen with our delivery of our leaflets and health problems of our candidate.

Another hot day for me to pack up and get ready for my trip home to Paxton. I packed my tool box as well as things for Sam and me in case I was to run into any maintenance problems upon my arrival.

First a good walk for Sam and my good-byes to the family. Della was sad to see me go but Diana seemed more than pleased to get shot of me at last. Debbie had a bad leg which she said was due to having to rush around with Sam yesterday and so Diana was thwarted in her plans to take them both the dinosaur park and left them at home and went to Norwich instead.

Once I was well underway, I telephoned Wiggly to see how the campaign had been going in my absence. I knew that there had been problems with the computer data, but I had not reckoned with Wiggly herself being down with an impacted wisdom tooth and the aftermath of a filling.

John Scott had been a godsend; being ever-present at the Luke Street committee room, and Derek and Sandy and some others had been canvassing regularly, but Wiggly’s indisposition had held things back with no canvas being done of "Outs" or "Undecideds".

I was concerned about her and so went straight round once I dropped Sam off home to collect the outstanding canvas cards and see how she was. I made a cup of tea and then took her to the dentists again for an emergency 2.30pm appointment. He prescribed painkillers and antibiotics and, as I was hungry for lunch and she did not have anything,

I deduced she would be better kept occupied and so dropped her home to start keying in the outstanding canvas cards and then went out for some fresh soup and bread and to collect her prescription. I made us a crude soup and bread lunch whilst she finished the data entry, and I could then assess the state of the campaign.

A lot more canvassing was necessary so, after coming home to walk the dog, we met up at Luke Street where I left Wiggly with John Scott and my mobile telephone to chase up the completion of the second leaflet drops, whilst I went out canvassing with two others to get some idea of how the Undecideds were going to split.

It was a successful evening as far as the canvassing was concerned with a good reception to our second leaflet and efforts but poor Wiggly had poorer news still of some of the leaflet rounds not being done and had a recalcitrant Ross McKay to deal with as well as her tooth ache. Back home to see Daniel and to unpack after a busy day.
