More than 40 years, told day by day
Letting Debbie join Diana for the normal Friday shopping trip to Bedford I concentrated on paperwork and campaigning but at the end of a tiring and hot week, I decided that the candidate and I should finish at 8.00am to let me come home and her spend some time with her friends at the wine bar.
A long time on the telephone to Jim this evening; having missed him recently
Debbie joined Diana for the normal Friday shopping trip to Bedford but I was not invited to join them and so I stayed at home and spent the morning catching up on a mound of paperwork and ended up with lots of bills paid and letters to post.

A long walk with Sam to start with, across the common and over to the river for some jumping, long retrieves and waterwork after which the sale of my Rolls Royce was completed today, and it was driven away.
Some agonising over Alf and Freda taking advantage of me concerning my loan but Diana persuaded me not to send the letter but to wait until the end of the summer.
Then Across to Luke Street later to sort out the next priorities for canvassing where Derek and our candidate had been out and Rob had also returned some cards. I stayed there and counselled her on financial issues.
The day was warm and sunny again and this made for tiring conditions after my late nights talking and working. A long walk with Sam to start with, across the common and over to the river for some jumping, long retrieves and waterwork.

Della's swimming and speech day without personal success but at least her house, Stafford, won the Work Shield for the best balance of "stars less bars" awarded for effort and she had the highest individual total that helped them do it.
Home to give Sam his second run of the day with much emphasis on ‘unseen retrieves’ and then a post canvassing chat with our candidate about her financial problems, political ambitions and personal goals before turning in.

As Diana drove to Cambridge shopping, I supervised Eynesbury canvassing and then hosted a Town Council LibDem Group meeting to tend a few fences electing Sheila Shorten as their new leader, and Sally as her deputy.
I opted to stay at home as Diana drove over to Cambridge for her normal Tuesday visit but there were no parents for her to see. Norma had driven down to Cornwall for a few days with Sue and Charles could not be persuaded to go in to see her.

With Sam to Molesworth first thing as the sun and heat continued and then to resolve aspects of the Cambridge Street occupation before resuming the Eynesbury campaigning.
Irelands played their last game in this World Cup Finals as I watched them lose 2-0 to the Holland team.
Again the sun and heat continued as I donned shorts for much of the day to cope with it. It started cooler at least and I used this chance to take Sam up to Molesworth in the car for a change of scenery.

Celebrating Della's Birthday and also the 10th Anniversary of my newly-found affluence with a bouncy castle and swimming session for her guests on a hot, sunny and humid day.
Later off to Harlow for the afternoon's GSP Club training session where Sam did very well retrieving, send away, go-back, sit, stay, and jumping.
Pete Sampras beat Goran Ivanisevic in the battle of the big serves in the Wimbledon Men’s single final and Daiman Hill was second to race winning Benneton driver Michael Schumacher in the Grande Prix
This was a notable anniversary. First it was it Della's 10th Birthday and a particularly poignant one in view of her accident a couple of years ago; a different outcome of which would have cast a very different light on today.
