More than 40 years, told day by day
Eventually managing some Dog Training with Jim and Martin around St Bennet’s Abbey on a rainy day after meeting up with and entertaining my guests.
Then serving tea for the Sullivan's who had enjoyed their day and then off quickly to see "The Flintstones" at the Cromer Regal where we had booked for the 8.30pm performance
This was the day allocated long ago for a joint dog training day with Jimmy Bird and Martin Sullivan. Martin and family were travelling up to Brancaster (where they have a caravan) to stay for the week and planned on dropping his wife and two girls off to Coltishall at a Brownie camp for the day.

We cruised from Stracey Arms via Stokesby for a fine seafood lunch and then on to Horning in the hot sun with the breeze to keep us cool. Pledged to return to cruising after a couple of days’ shore leave.
The night passed as peacefully as could be expected considering that this part of the Bure was a bit like the M1 motorway. I did have a problem with the refrigerator running down the alarm battery so that the low-voltage alarm kept going off but overcame it so that we were not kept awake.

A little time together with Diana before taking Sam for a run and meeting up with Mr Amis who advised me to demolish Heronshaw and rebuild.
Shopping in Latham’s and then the cruise from Potter Heigham to Stracey Arms via Womack Water in warm and humid weather as Stokesby moorings were full.
The news today was of a huge car bomb attack on the Israeli Embassy in Kensington which followed an attack in Buenos Aries last week which seemed to be the return of extremist Arab terrorism such as Hezbollah
Another good night with no noise or disturbance from Sam who sleeps well in his box. I got up first at 7.00am and then brought morning drinks into our cabin for Diana.

On our first full day aboard for a long time, we suffered in the sweltering heat and Diana was really suffering in the heat, carrying far too much weight, hardly able to walk around the walkway getting far too hot but we persisted and moved from Ranworth to Potter Heigham.
The main news is of the horrific genocide in Rwanda and of the international relief agencies trying to cope with it.
Our first full day on the boat for a long time and the process was made the more difficult by the hot sun raising temperatures to the high 80'sF.

After full preparation, eventually off on Paxton Princess for a few days cruising along to Ranworth Staithe and walking to view the Broads from the top of Ranworth Church tower which was truly remarkable.
Back to The Maltsters for a drink before we put the boat to bed and Sam in his box for the night.
The plan was for us was to use the next few days to try out a trip on the boat and certainly the weather did not let us down.

Recovery day walking Sam on another fine and sunny but with a cooler breeze, joining Diana and the girls for a trip to Norwich.
Then on to Cromer to see the film "My Girl II" which was very funny, moving and dramatic.
I took the decision to take things easily the day after all of the activity and excitement and so just walked Sam gently up the dyke before joining Diana and the girls for a trip to Norwich.
