More than 40 years, told day by day
Dawn revealed a carpet of snow some four inches thick that Della, Sam and I strode through and then I went out with Debbie and Della to show them how to roll-up large balls of snow to make a formidable snowman.
I fired up The Paxton Princess to charge up the batteries before we tried out The Swan and enjoyed some bread and soup for lunch before driving home to Paxton.
The House of Commons agreed a new age of consent for homosexuality, reducing it from 21 to 18.
Sam settled and slept well after his trauma of yesterday evening and lay doggo whilst we rose slowly this morning. The snow had fallen steadily overnight, and dawn came to reveal a carpet of snow some four inches thick that Della, Sam and I strode through. The builders were in the bungalow next door again where they are raising the floor above flood level but there was nobody else to spoil the snow.

Another cold morning to take our dog Sam for a walk and soon to set out to visit Sam Weller and Francis in Aylsham as more snow falls. He took us to see his Reepham railway station project which he has renovated and is setting up as a museum of railway and retail ephemera.
The West Indies first faltered in their reply to England's 230-odd but then Brian Lara and Keith Atherton put the home team back into the driving seat.
The night was cold again but not so freezing as the last two and no frost covered the trees and bushes when we looked out. A queue for the bathroom with Debbie following me but I got Della up to join us for breakfast before I set out to take Sam for a walk. The breeze made up for the lack of frost and wind chill left me feeling very cold and resolved to stay inside when I got back.

After my morning dog walking and training regime with Sam after another cold night, the trip to Jarrold’s for morning coffee with the girls before meeting up with Daniel at Julian Gunn, the contact lens specialists.
Then shopping for shooting decoys, watching televised rugby and cricket before a family louting to Cromer cinema to see "Save Willy", a moving film about the plight of a killer whale held in captivity.
We experienced another cold night and 7.30am call but, allowing Debbie to use the bathroom first, I climbed in bed with Diana for warmth and company until it was light. Breakfast together and then me out with Sam, taking him for a relatively short run along the roads in the morning frost and doing some obedience work.

After surviving an unusually-cold night which froze the nearby dykes and roads, I walked Sam and then took the girls to Wroxham library and had personal Electric Boat demonstrations.
Lunch with the family at The Horning Tea Shoppe and then my shooting lesson at the Mid-Norfolk Shooting School. Then to The Broads Hotel in Wroxham for their carvery dinner
We experienced an unusually-cold night which froze the nearby dykes and left frozen roads and frost everywhere, but we were warm and comfortable in our beds at Harnser. We were slow to stir as a result, so that Debbie beat me into the bathroom and I had to wait even longer before getting up.

A better night’s sleep and awake to hear of Daniel’s cheap gearbox repair before walking Sam and managing the gardener. Then setting off from Paxton for Norfolk after the panic to collect Della from school in Kimbolton.
There was no sign of any of this so-called "earthquake" that was supposed to have shaken Norfolk. I telephoned Jim and July Bird at Wymondham and they had seen and felt nothing. After arriving and sorting things out, enjoying baths and an early night.
An earlier night and better night's sleep to wake more refreshed than of late and determined to make a good start to the day. After my bath last night, just a light wash this morning and then dressed to be amongst the first down for breakfast. Daniel had come in late last night before I went to bed with good news of his car gearbox repair, and he was equally full of beans this morning at getting his automatic transmission completely overhauled at a cost to him of only £190.

Visiting The Rigbys at North Scarle near Lincoln with Sam for training tips as I persuaded Diana to get cleaning help now Daniel was back at home and making a mess.
Then a chat with Diana and Cliff Roberts of Mill House this evening about the work that the NRA are doing on the downstream approaches to the Paper Mill Lock.
A rare earthquake near Swaffham in Norfolk yesterday, but only measuring 4.0 on the Richter Scale
I had written to Trevor and Barbara Rigby arranging to visit them today and I therefore had to get out with Sam first for his regular morning walk and I did not spare him for lack of time but got him in the water again amongst the ice to do some fine water retrieves.
