After the morning visiting Cambridge and Di’s parents, finding Norma quite ill with a cold, we had lunch in the Cambridge Arts Theatre Restaurant and then came home so that I could work on the Focus advertisement copy and consider a quote from Arthur Edmonds for rebuilding Heronshaw. Then to help my St Neots Council colleagues agree strategy and home to find Della and Debbie had both been upset at my absence.
I joined Diana for the trip to Cambridge this morning and we got underway once the girls had been dropped at the bus stop. The bus routine seems to be settling down now with the two new Little Paxton stops made permanent. It was a very foggy day and the cold weather had returned making the air chill and the driving conditions atrocious. We passed several crash-damaged cars as we wended our way along the A45 from St Neots to Cambridge and had to drive much slower than normal. Di had an errand to do on the way and so we approached Cambridge from the north and it was a little later than usual before we parked at the Round Church Car Park and met Di's parents for coffee in Eadon Lilley's.

A trip to St Neots with Diana on a milder day than of late with coffee in Brackenbury's and then a hunt round for the best building society interest rates. The afternoon writing up a paper on Local Government Re-organisation, and then off to Huntingdon for this evening’s HDC Planning Committee Meeting from which Percy had to retire early
Once we had got the girls to school, I joined Diana for a trip to St Neots on a milder day than of late. My nose is still snuffling a bit but is improving steadily and I cannot stay in all of the time. I checked around the building societies and discovered that the interest rates for investors had been dropping this month so that the best I could get on £50k deposits was 10.60%. This is still well in advance of inflation and so they must fall ever further in the months to come. I made some withdrawals and inpayments and then met up with Di who had been shopping in Waitrose.

Getting poor Debbie off to school in her new braces on a much milder day and then some time editing Focus copy to try and incorporate Derek and Ross articles. FOCUS editing and correspondence.
Poor Diana had some stomach pains tonight; probably to do with her period and Debbie tried going to sleep with the extra strap on her brace which was yet a further discomfort for her.
It was much milder today and I was able to shed my woolly socks and jumper that have kept me warm during the recent cold snap. Up quite early and then, after breakfast, embarked upon the task of editing the rest of the FOCUS text for the forthcoming March issue number 17. I had a serious set-back when the computer went dead and had to retrace my footsteps which did not make the process any easier. The Eaton Socon articles were a particular problem with competing articles and themes from Derek and Ross so that it was the devil's own job making them into a coherent whole.

Concerned about Debbie and her uncomfortable braces and then lazily watching some cricket and rugby on TV before managing some work on the latest FOCUS editions despite being very tired. I heard from Mum today who was keen to see the family again as it has been some time since we managed a visit.
Debbie survived the night with her new braces but was again sorry for herself this morning. I was full of compassion, but Diana insisted that she go to school for the half day as it was for the best so that she would not be so worried about Monday. I was rather lazy this morning, watching the Indian innings in the World Cup match against England in an exciting match that England managed to win narrowly. Lunch and then Di took Debbie to Bedford to do some shopping. In particular, Debbie needed another jumper, only owning one (according to her, though I think that she must have more).
