A pleasant start to the day with just Della at school and Debbie at Amy’s. Some shopping and building society transactions at St Neots before collecting Della from school and driving to The Marlborough Hotel in London and enjoying seeing "Joseph" at the London Palladium
It was a good idea to drive back last night as I could then have a little lay in this morning. Just Della had to spend the morning at school and Debbie had the morning off, going to Amy's for a play session cooking "brownies". Diana and I went into St Neots so that she could do some shopping and I could get my hair cut and then attend to some building society transactions. This done, we returned to pack up and then drive off to collect Della from school before we all set off for London, stopping at a Little Chef for lunch. We called The Marlborough Hotel on the car phone to warn them of our early arrival and then got there in early afternoon, checking into our interconnecting hotel rooms and leaving the porters to take the car to a nearly garage for the weekend.

Receiving the Jewson’s deliveries after a cold and frosty start to the day when I had worked inside Harnser fitting bathroom skirting board. Some time staining more cladding as Jack popped by on his way to the Black Horse pub.
Then leaving for Paxton, calling in on Mum for a short while who was as well as her general health could allow and pleased to be back home in Stanton
It was a very cold and frosty start to the day and quite unseasonably so, as it felt that winter was well under way. I went out to work but, it being too cold to be outside at first, I spent the early part of the morning cutting and fitting sections of bathroom skirting board. The Jewson’s driver arrived with my last consignment of Masterboard and also with most of the Dimplex electric heaters. Once the frost had cleared and sun had come out, I resumed staining the cladding and managed to complete two more layers of planks, six in each layer. There remained still so much to do. Jack came by and we chatted before he went off to The Black Horse.

A working day in Horning after a cold night cutting and putting up my last section of the Masterboard until the extra sheets arrive. As the day brightened up, I could then dry off the remaining cladding and get some of it stained ready for next week's working party.
On the radio, I was following the House of Commons debate on the run down of the coal industry where Heseltine was given a very rough ride, but the government managed to achieve a small majority
I felt cold during the night and had to keep pulling the extra sleeping bag cover back over me as it slid to the floor. Then slow to get ready this morning. Just toast for breakfast (as I had no chance to get to the shops) and then wrapped up as best as I could to face the dull and cold morning. The breeze was still from a northerly direction as I started the day cutting and putting up my last section of the Masterboard until the extra sheets arrive. Some more work on the eaves fillers and then a break for a modest sandwich lunch to save time. The day had brightened up and so I could now dry off the remaining cladding and get some of it stained ready for next week's working party.

Seeing the girls off to school and then leaving in time for my Norfolk shooting lesson with mixed results. Some shopping for ammunition in Norwich and then on to Heronshaw planned the Ropes Hill Dyke roadworks and the resumption of work with Alan on Harnser
Diana called me very early this morning, being under the mistaken impression that I had to leave early for Norfolk. I actually had time to see the girls off to school and review the mail and check that I had everything I needed before taking off in the Range Rover. My first point of call was the shooting ground at Thetford and I arrived in time for my 10.00am lesson with John Buckle. The weather had been very wet all night and this continued this morning. I had to don my waterproofs from the start, and I kept them on after loading up and then wore them again for my lesson whilst the instructor got very wet! I did a little better than last week, hitting most of the clays that were crossing and doing particularly well on those that were high overhead. I then floundered with those going-away shots missing just about all of them.
