More than 40 years, told day by day
A day of handyman interviews after my normal dog training session before I encouraged Daniel off to his first day at work where he did well enough. He just wants a fast video card for his birthday!
A major aftershock in Los Angeles, one of many following the San Fernando earthquake, whilst John Major and Douglas Hurd have got themselves into a hole over the enlargement of the E.E.C.
At this "Vernal Equinox", the weather is still dry and sunny and, even if the breeze is from the east and a bit chilly, it is a pleasure to be out and about. I got Sam swimming both morning and afternoon, but he still messed about a little bit for each first occasion he went in. Some more dummy-holding practice and he was obedient overall.

Off to Bower Hill Epping for dog training with Martin when Sam completed a couple of simple tracking tests very well. Home to Paxton for a late tea of left-overs in the lounge and then I writing up these last two days' journal after making a few telephone calls
Another nice sunny day for my outing to Epping but first Diana and I slept in very late and it was after 9.00am before I was up and into the bathroom. Normally Diana is long gone from my bed in the morning and so I had to tarry a while with her first! A quick wash and shave, dressed, bowl-full of cereal and then a short walk with Sam before setting off with him in the car.

I had committed to giving a short talk to a Cambridgeshire group of Liberal Democrats over at Hinchingbrooke School, Huntingdon and then returned to watch some England Rugby before taking Diana out for a pizza and then on to the cinema in Peterborough to see "Schindler's List"
It was a nice sunny day and I enjoyed a short sharp run with Sam. I had him entering the water correctly for once in the morning and then crossing the river onto the island to retrieve this afternoon. I had committed to giving a short talk to a Cambridgeshire group of Liberal Democrats over at Hinchingbrooke School, Huntingdon, and so made my way to that.

A leisurely but active day getting out with Sam three times and then taking Diana and the girls (together with Jemma del Posso) off to Peterborough to see the film "The Three Musketeers" which they enjoyed.
It was milder this morning, even if there was rain in the air turning into drizzle for most of the day. Sam got out three times; once swimming and running around the gravel pits first thing, another shorter run in late afternoon and a longer session before lunch walking to heel as I carried my gun and took some long shots whilst walking along the river boundary of Brook Farm.

After a good time with Sam and my daughters, some election and dog training planning before watching some Test cricket and enjoying an evening's rest.
The Irish Prime Minister was in The White House today with President Clinton who endorsed the Downing Street Declaration and the major British charities link for yet another humanitarian appeal for funds to aid the war victims.
Slow to get going this morning but still managed to have breakfast with the family. Daniel was in a better mood today and had a better day at work as a result. Debbie seemed back to normal after her recent illness and Della, though recently eyelash plucking again, was in good form and rude health. She is now evidently far from quiet at school and is one of the loudest in the class!

Due to Diana's Hinchingbrooke appointment, I went with her and then opted to stay in Paxton and fortunately her tests showed no malignancy, and the surgeon was recommending no serious action. Buying a newer and more compact palm-held camcorder for us to use in France for our forthcoming holiday.
Yet more IRA bomb scares and Britain is again at loggerheads with the other countries in the European Union
I had tentatively planned to drive over to Horning today but, having much to achieve at home, I opted to stay in Paxton instead. Two shortish walks with Sam today, me being short of time and not wanting to be out in more very windy and chilly weather, but he still had a good obedience lesson walking to heel with Della on the way to the school bus stop and then swimming in the gravel pits tonight.
