London executive induction as June’s father collapses and the vote to reintroduce the death penalty is defeated. An evening nude walk on an exhaustingly hot day
Another very hot and sunny day, and I noticed the heat particularly as it stayed hot during the evening, and humid during the night. Good news overnight as the House of Commons rejects decisively any form of the death penalty and feels that this is an end to the issue. An early meeting with Jacques Samuels and good news that six fine candidates for interview are selected from the many that applied for the Manufacturing Manager. Then during a meeting with Derek Weatherby, June Hamilton interrupted in a most distraught state. Her father had collapsed with Heart Attack and Stroke and mother was upset.

A very hot day of Comart Executive Annual Reviews and options as the House debates the Death Penalty
Another very hot and sunny day with temperatures again in the mid 80’s and over 90degF in the Eastern Region. This ‘ heat wave’ is already causing problems. Very few buildings in England, of course, have air conditioning and tempers become frayed and stress rises.

Successful Tribunal victory against Ashley Leggat on another hot day and several hours on urgent Comart administration before planning for Director’s holidays as Thatcher's Death Penalty debate looms and threats to 20,000 NHS will follow from Treasury cuts
Today to Cambridge for my first Industrial Tribunal; but first a detailed scan of The Times and Guardian. Both are utterly opposed to the Capital Punishment Debate with powerful articles and editorials. If the vote is carried, James Prior, The Northern Ireland Secretary will surely resign. News also of union warnings about 20,000 jobs in the NHS being due for loss if government cutbacks are carried through.

Very hot day of Comart Sales and London Review Meetings then executive interview before late home to eat and sleep as our competitor Torch microcomputer company is taken over by GEC and re-financed but will not be a threat
Another hot day with temperatures in Manchester at 86.6degF, being the hottest for 7 years. In Liphook, Hampshire, it reached 91degF. At the Comart factory, the temperature was uncomfortably hot all day with the new Portacabins not helping the flow of air through the sliding door. A quick review of the morning’s mail and then a Comart Sales meeting for the morning.

Daniel in the dog-house for breaking his watch but allowed to play with David Tomlin and outboard dinghies whilst I work on The Lady and receive a visit from Old Bill and spot I spot a fine river mirror carp
A cool misty morning that did not clear into hot sunshine until mid-afternoon which was truly a blessed relief. Daniel is under a strict regime of supervision now that he has broken a watch bought for him only yesterday. Diana had bought him the watch because he was always home late and efforts to restrict his friends and activities had worried her.
