Della's 9th Birthday opening her presents and preparing the bouncy castle and swimming pool for her party on a very hot and sunny day.
England stage something of a recovery in the third cricket test match against Australia
We were up rather late, watching some TV and relaxing after, in my case, another tiring and hot day. The bedroom was hot and, even with the windows open, it was difficult to get comfortable. Awake a couple of times during the night and then up early to catch Diana still in bed which was an unusual pleasure (on this occasion for her as well as for me!). Then asleep again until woken up by Della, anxious to open her birthday presents. Della was nine today which was another blessing as I count each year that she has survived being run over on Gordon Road.

Taking Diana to U.E.A. at Norwich for Daniels Degree Confirmation and then lunch afterwards with Gary at The Sprowston Manor Hotel. Then collecting Daniel’s television, video and sectional desk from his flat.
I heard from Freda this evening who had received my letters and taken them in good part. Now she will get an estimate of the value of Redgrave with a view to trying to realise her investment and repay the money that she owes to me
I had arranged for Diana to call me early again as we had a big day in store. Though still tired from yesterday, I got up quickly and fed and exercised Sam. Breakfast with the girls at the start of a another hot day and then quickly loaded up and off by Discovery for our journey to Norwich. Diana insisted on stopping at a Little Chef for morning coffee and, even though we did not wait for the delayed toasted tea cakes, it still took too long and we were thereafter struggling to get to Daniel's house in time to see him before he left.

Sam's first boating night aboard before some fine hunting experience for his morning walk. Then some comprehensive Compass/Autopilot calibration trials with Steve in Barton Broad. Finally, back home to Paxton, dropping Steve off to Sawtry
The night went well and Sam slept all right in his transit box. He was perched up on the cockpit seat and, though he whined a bit to start with, he soon settled down and did not stir all night. I woke up at 6.30am on a cooler and mistier morning and, having had a quick wash and shave, then went out with Sam for a long walk.
