A better day clearing gutters and putting up Christmas lights after a bad night with Sam much disturbed. We had a surprise visit from Daniel and Angela today and then, this evening, I did some more work and then sat with Diana and watched "Casualty", a hospital TV drama series
Sam had another bad and disturbed night. He first woke up and would not stop barking after a house-full of guests left the house at the bottom of the garden, although they were switching on headlights and banging car doors etc. Then he was awake again for half an hour around 5.00am until I went down there and made him get back into his kennel and go to sleep. Now that he knows he has to spend the night outside, there seems to be no harm in going out and making him stop barking which I shall do from now on. In any case, I cannot sleep when this happens, and it leads to far less disturbance with the neighbours who have to be taken into account.

The drive home to Paxton in stormy conditions after buying more padded work shirts at Latham’s with Sam still a challenge to supervise. As Company Secretary, attending a Glisson Printers meeting in Cambridge in the evening.
Israel have expelled hundreds of Palestinian activists from its occupied territories in contravention of international law and the Geneva Convention and incurred the wrath of the world.
After the disturbance of yesterday, last night passed peacefully with Sam sleeping through and only waking up at 7.30am. He then had a good day, sleeping in his run after the morning feed so that I could spend my time packing up ready to leave. I was very pleased with the padded work shirt bought from Lathams and so I first made another trip to Potter Heigham to buy three more. At £7.99 each they are a bargain being one of the very few that fit me without being tailored. Then the drive to Cambridgeshire. The weather was deteriorating as I drove and it ended up in near storm conditions by journey's end. The gusts of wind were rocking the Range Rover at speed but it held the road and is a trusty steed.

A mild and dull day after a freezing cold night during which Sam was very sleepless and noisy. The family head for home after a good day shopping. The recent news was of more IRA bombings, this time in The West End of London.
After I thought that Sam had settled to a habit of undisturbed nights, I had a rude awakening both metaphorical and actual. He awoke at 1.44am and then proceeded to howl non-stop for an hour until I really had to go out and find out what was wrong. It was a bitterly cold night and I concluded that this was the probable reason for his anguish. His water was frozen and I think that his kennel was far too big for his body to warm it up. We resolved to improve his bedding and later I built a kennel within the kennel and bought some more substantial bedding in case it was needed. I had to reassure him and exercise him for a further hour in the night and then he woke up soon after 7.00am later on as usual.

Daniel and Angela visited on another mild day which turned drizzly later. I had walked Sam and Diana had delivered the material to the dressmaker and then I moved and installed the washing machine and tumble drier. Lunch at the Bridge Restaurant and the family off to Norwich as I worked on.
A 7.30am start from Sam which was not too bad but I resolved to set my radio alarm for 7.00am tomorrow which will avoid a period of howling and set me off on a less tense start to the day. I had been tired and grumpy yesterday with the girls misbehaving and the same happened later today. Diana had made a trip out this morning to deliver the material and get some shopping and I looked after the girls and made sure that they did the washing up. I re-wired the washing machine and tumble dryer fused-spurs into sockets and then disassembled the wardrobe from Heronshaw and Diana got back as I started to carry across the sections to Harnser. Once Daniel and Angela arrived, I got their help in carrying across the washing machine and tumble-dryer which were bolted together as a stack and very heavy.
