Another mild and still day working and shopping as we enjoyed a morning coffee and scone at Jarrold’s Coffee Shop and lunch at Oliver’s after going to the splendid material shop recommended by the dress-maker to choose some curtain fabric and linings.
The dog had quite a good day and still grows and feeds well but is quite easily woken when coming and leaving from the property.
The day started with a morning call from Sam at 7.15am after which I washed, shaved, dressed and then went out to feed and exercise him for most of an hour. After breakfast Diana went and got Jean the dress-maker in her car and they sorted out the dimensions and plans for the living room curtains within an hour or so. I had managed to get one of the curtain rails up last night and most of another one this morning and that gave them something to measure to. We then all set off for Norwich to do some shopping. The girls were happy enough to go to the library while Diana and I had a morning coffee and scone at Jarrold’s Coffee Shop and then walked on to the splendid material shop recommended by the dress-maker to choose some curtain fabric and linings.

Working and shopping on a fine and mild day and going to the library in Wroxham and Norwich and then having lunch at Wroxham Barns as I continued to fit out the new building whilst walking and feeding Sam.
I was reluctant to wake up on a fine and mild day but Sam was soon calling. At least I had a chance to get washed and shaved before he woke up this time. I fitted the bathroom mirror, toothbrush holder and cabinet this morning as the girls went to the shops and library in Wroxham. They then returned in mid-morning and I took them to Wroxham Barns where the girls visited the Junior Farm whilst we looked around the gift shops and then had a nice Christmas Lunch in the restaurant. Rather late back to feed Sam his midday meal but he was all right. This afternoon working on the kick-plates under the kitchen units and also successfully stalked and killed a Greylag Goose with my hunting air rifle from the lawn a couple of doors up.

Della was sick overnight on our bedding and, with Sam awake at 7am, it was a tough start to the day. Some more Harnser fittings bought and installed and all the family except Della to the Bridge Restaurant for lunch. After his last walk of the day, I fed Sam four teaspoonfuls of puppy-wormer syrup on schedule.
Our first night in Harnser was eventful to say the least. We all found the new beds and room very comfortable, but Della woke us up at 4.00am complaining of a tummy ache and shivering with cold and then, once I had invited her into my sleeping bag, proceeded to be sick over this, Diana's sleeping bag and the new carpet! We felt shattered after getting everything cleaned up and back to normal and were then woken by Sam at 7.00am for good measure. He had been in his kennel for twelve hours and so we could not complain but his howling was hardly welcome. An hour later, he was fed and exercised and, Diana having driven to Wroxham to get the sleeping bags laundered, I drove and joined her to took her to Roy's.

Sam woke up early to the sound of the hunters after the wildfowl on Crabbets Marsh and, after walking him, I laid the kitchen vinyl floor-covering until Di and the girls arrived to stay in Harnser.
This afternoon and evening Diana and I worked away at commissioning Harnser with her unpacking as I finished laying the vinyl and then assembled six kitchen stools from MFI "flat-packs"
For a change, Sam woke up early this morning at 6.20am. It could have been the full moon or the sound of the hunters after the wildfowl on Crabbets Marsh or something else entirely. At least Sam is getting some exposure to the sound of gunfire as I have also walked him up the lane to be nearer still. I got up and out earlier than of late and took advantage of the earlier start and was working on laying the kitchen vinyl floor-covering by 8.00am. It was a very tricky job laying the whole in one piece, particularly laying it into the cupboards and around the hot-water cylinder but I managed it. I had laid the bulk of it by the time Diana arrived with the girls and then finished the rest after lunch.
