On yet another warm and muggy day, I withdrew money to buy 50-52 Cambridge Street and 18 Lawrence Road.
Della had her friend Katie Morris over to stay all day and for the night to follow and we hoped it would be possible as Della woke up with a temperature and aches and pains first thing. Some more challenging dog training walks with Sam.
Yet another fine, warm and muggy day. I sent Daniel off in my Land Rover to collect the car gun cabinet from Lintran in Lincoln which took him all morning but allowed me to stay in to make the final arrangements for the property purchases. I received the confirmatory calls and then went into St Neots to withdraw £45,000 from our Nationwide Anglia account and then £51,000 from The Woolwich for our purchase of 50-52 Cambridge Street and 18 Lawrence Road respectively.

More administration on another fine and sunny day, as Diana shops, Debbie sails and Daniel drives.
I called Nigel and finalised the dates of our shooting holiday in Caithness as we both have to hope that his court case for alleged insurance fraud turns out all right so that he will actually be available to come and not in jail!
Another fine and sunny day which is ironic as we are still back in Paxton on a break from our Norfolk holiday. Two longer walks for Sam, including some swimming in the gravel pits as even I had to agree he was getting a bit smelly. I was stuck in my office again for another day's paperwork and first I finished archiving July's journal as I waited for news on the property purchases. The solicitors acting for us on both transactions seem difficult to contact and so slow in dealing with things that we had to keep chasing them.

On another glorious day of almost unbroken sun and very warm air, I had to spend another working day at home, attending to investment, administrative and trust matters.
I saw Nigel in town, and he got me to sign his latest shotgun application for him.
More Geneva talks on Bosnia but the reality is that the Serbs have won the civil war and terms are being discussed for partition of Sarajevo that suit them
It was my fate to spend another day working at home whilst Debbie continued her water sports week and Della and Daniel joined Diana for a trip to Cambridge to see her Mum and Dad. It was another glorious day of almost unbroken sun and very warm air into the bargain. Diana woke us all quite early again and Daniel joined us for breakfast when he was persuaded to make the trip to Cambridge. He behaved well with Della, by all accounts, and Charles and Norma were very pleased to see them both.

Catching up day at home on a fine and sunny day sorting the mail and conducting informal meetings and telephone calls to solve problems and progress solutions.
Outside with Daniel and later getting him and Diana back talking again after she was depressed. Debbie enjoyed her first day of water sports at Paxton Lakes; learning sailing, canoeing and wind-surfing and Della went off to enjoy the day with a friend.
The news still of post-Yugoslavian problems and the evacuation of medical emergencies. At home the police officers are determined to resist reforms on pay and conditions
.This was a hard day for me, going through my mail, listing all of my outstanding tasks for action, conducting informal meetings and telephone calls to solve problems and progress solutions. After I had taken Sam for a rather difficult walk (he was all excited again about being back here and had to get used to the routine, smells and sounds) I found that Diana was still in a depressed state of mind and so I first sat her down and talked to her about Daniel; persuading her that the best thing was to talk things through with him and get some agreement on where things went wrong.
