After a very cold night, it was fine for touring Norwich and walking around Horsey. We dropped off the Escort for a service and windscreen replacement in Norwich, and, after coffee at Jarrold’s and a library visit, the girls watched a film as Di and I shopped.
Later, a trip to Horsey to take the same walk I used to do as a small child from Horsey Corner to the sea via The Nelson's Head which brought back memories of sad childhood days.
It was as cold as 7 or 8degF last night and chilly today as the region is firmly in a north-westerly airstream. At least the rain of yesterday stayed away and this meant that quite a few things could happen. First my morning routine with the dog and then, after breakfast, we put him in his inner run for the day and all set off for Norwich. Diana drove the Escort with Debbie aboard and I had Della as a passenger in the Discovery. By prior arrangement, I dropped off the car to have its 12,000-mile service and pot-marked windscreen replaced and this gave us the day in Norwich.

A rainy day working day on the Paxton Princess in Horning, updating my charts with the latest Admiralty corrections as the sandbanks off the Norfolk coast continue to move.
I then fitted the davit handle back on, repaired the winch solenoids and replaced all of the anchor chain, mud-weight and anchor into the foredeck.
After they had been shopping at Tescos, I took the family across the river by Jolly to have lunch at The New Inn and we watched a video in the evening
It was raining all night and that was still the case this morning. I was awake for some of it, a headache being the cause, and then I found it quite chilly when I got up to shave, wash and feed Sam. He was whining before I was ready even though it was pouring with rain and I had to go out in my Barbour jacket and hood to walk him. He was totally undaunted by the weather, but I dried him off before leaving him in his kennel for the rest of the morning.

The journey from Paxton to Horning after another warm, sunny and humid start and some time settling Diana.
Lunch walking across to lunch together at The Little Chef in Paxton and then the trip to Horning with Sam crammed in amongst the luggage.
Diana fed the girls toast and then I took her to Mr Chan's for an evening meal of Chinese food.
Sunny again to start with but we were all up late again after some fun in the night. I was woken at 3.00am to find Diana thrashing about with her nightie up and legs apart (she says that she was having a nightmare about crashing my old Dad's car through a cinema fence into a greenhouse but I did not believe her) and I was too much of a gentleman husband to ignore her plight. A run for the dog before breakfast and then time in my office finishing off my administrative transactions and updating my journal before it was time to pack.

Long walks with Sam on another warm day of clear skies and sunshine watching Test Cricket as Debbie sails Topper dinghies on her last day on the water sports week and Della gets ill but still sees her friends.
Linford Christie became the only British man to have won gold medals in the 100 metres at all four major competitions
Another warm day of clear skies and sunshine but, instead of getting on with jobs about the place, I opted for a days' rest and watched the cricket for most of the time. I started off by having a lay in and breakfast with the others before feeding Sam and taking him out for a walk. As I had time on my side, I went past the Common and walked right into St Neots town itself which proved a reasonable trek. Before, I had not considered taking him into town, feeling that it meant a long time on the lead, but that route made it possible.
