Sailing and boating in Barton Broad and then cruise back down the Ant dropping the mud-weight in Barton Broad to let Debbie do some sailing on a very hot day before on to Horning.
Liverpool beat Arsenal in a penalty shoot-out at the end of an FA Charity Shield curtain-raiser for the football season
Sam was a revelation overnight, just sleeping and not even whining when it was time to get up in the morning. A long run for him again and back via the shops before the family were ready for breakfast. I left Sam "tethered" to one of the mooring posts and he drew appreciation from two boat cleaning ladies and another from the yacht moored in front. At least somebody likes him! We cruised back down the Ant with our canopy up and side/back screens rolled up for both shade and ventilation.

On a warm and sunny day, an overnight cruise in the Paxton Princess down the Bure, up the Ant and then through Ludham Bridge to moor up for lunch at The Coffee Shop.
Onward up The Ant, past How Hill and through Barton Broad and right up to Stalham where, despite it being the eve of "turn-round" day, we managed to moor at the staithe.
The weather had settled to become warm and sunny and, with Daniel gone home for a few days, this was our cue to get out on the Paxton Princess overnight. Slept in for a while and then out with Sam to give him a long walk as he was going to be confined on the boat for a while. Some small trouble getting loaded up and ready as always but then away quite safely in mid-morning. The first problem was a leaking kettle that had deposited water all over the gas cooker so as to clog the burners with rust. Apart from that, we just had a rear shower pump failing and then everything else was working fine.

A very windy and gusty day with heavy showers making both Horning Regatta and Fete very difficult affairs and seeing a white boat sunk by a hire cruiser.
Lunch at The Olde Tea Shoppe, shopping in the village and some work in the garage for me completed our day as I also sorted out my Dad’s old carpentry tools.
The news is still full of the former Yugoslavia in general and Sarejevo in particular
It was very windy and gusty today with heavy showers making both Horning Regatta and Fete very difficult affairs. I was out later with the dog and, during my visit to the village for supplies, saw the old ladies struggling in and out with the racks of clothes etc. It is interesting to see that all of the people involved in organising the fete are over 70 and the same old "Gay Gordons" type of music prevails over the public address; only the speed of the old tape recorder gets slower and slower year by year!

Catching up on messages and buying another ‘Trust House’ before lunch at The Riverside Cafe, Wroxham, and then the afternoon at Beeson Hall, home of the 7th Baronet and Lady Preston.
Strains of the music and steps of some Morris Dancers across the river outside The Swan attracted my attention and I took Diana and Della across in The Jolly to see them.
It was warm and sunny today for the most part but the clouds nearly produced some rain his evening.
The night was cool which made it much easier to sleep for me, although the family complained of my snoring in the morning. Sam was also slow to rise after the long walk last night and waited for me to get ready and attend to him somewhat later than usual. After breakfast, I made a host of telephone calls as a result of checking my answering machine at home. We are now going ahead with the purchase of another "trust-house" after the valuation was very satisfactory.
