After a storm overnight with heavy rain, thunder and lightning, it was humid and muggy again to walk Sam and then have lunch at Wroxham Barns.
Returning to Paxton to find that Daniel had not looked after the swimming pool and garden and Bill had not been cutting the lawns.
Daiman Hill won his first Grand Prix motor race today
Moving back and forwards between our main and holiday homes is always a trauma and I suppose I was wrong to expect anything different this time. It was stormy overnight with heavy rain, thunder and lightning but all this had cleared up by the time I awoke and prepared for the day. Out with Sam in shirt-sleeves as the humidity was up and weather muggy again and had a good walk with him. Even after our long walk of yesterday, he was still bouncing about and keen as ever.

On a gloriously sunny day I took the girls ailing at Black Horse (Hoveton Little) Broad in Horning, before we had lunch at The Riverside Restaurant in Wroxham and before I took Diana on a walk at Potter Heigham.
News is still of rescue operations for people trapped in a four-storey hotel collapse in Thailand and of the RAF rescue helicopter that crashed in Wales yesterday, killing three air cadets
Another gloriously sunny day and, although Diana's thoughts were of Norwich and the skating rink, I insisted that we should stay by the river and enjoy the amenity of our riverside home. First we all worked away at Harnser; Diana inside on the housework and ironing, and me outside on the boat, removing the offending solenoid that stops my anchor winch from working. A sunny day at last for walks with Sam and time at Horning with Debbie welcoming Amy to play. Lunch at the Horning Tea Shoppe, after which Diana took the children to The Horning Leisure Centre as I worked.
The evening with Diana to Cromer to see Whoopie Goldberg in "Made in America" which was both sad and funny at the same time.
The forecast was for a sunny day and that was just what we got. I was awake early after an earlier night and then out equally early with Sam. It was already bright and sunny if a bit cool. I took him on a walk across the fields and back via the village. The family were still not ready for breakfast when I returned and so I started on the long list of jobs that I had prepared.

The month continuing very wet with even hailstones in Winterton later on a day that started with raingear for dog walks but just a short dry spell for time on The Jolly to Horning Tea Shoppe.
Once dried out and rested, we drove along the coast via Hemsby, California and Scratby surprised at the development at Hemsby.
An evening meal for Diana and I at the Wroxham Bridge Restaurant and local walk after.
August has followed July in being a very wet month and today, if anything, was typical of it at its worse. There had been heavy overnight rain and, despite a slight lull when I awoke, it was pouring again when I took Sam for his walk. He is still as enthusiastic as ever, bless him, and jauntily trotted along for his walk even though I was wrapped up in a Barbour jacket and boots but I had to towel him over when putting him back in his kennel. Breakfast and then time to relax reading as the rain continued to fall.
