The US threatening to escalate Libyan air strikes

Hospital Appointment – A day sorting out our new bed and bedroom and attending Hinchinbrook Hospital where blood tests are taken and my history of two infections of the urinary tract was sufficient to warrant further investigation and then on to Buckden marina for some boat issues before visiting Offord Riding School and arranging for Debbie to start riding lessons soon as the Tories push ahead with Sunday Trading despite wide-spread opposition, the US escalates its threats towards Libya and the Land Rover/BL sale debate rumbles on

A good night for both me and Diana and a calm awakening with my morning tea. The paper, but no time to read it until later. Actually in the shower as Di called us in for a hot toast and marmalade breakfast. Shaved after and then to liaise with the pool men and bed delivery men. The boiler and filtration units were put into position today and our bed was put in pride of place in the new master bedroom. Time for Di to furnish it with some temporary coverings, as I got my things together. All off to St Neots to do some shopping. I helped Daniel to get £37 out of the building society, but was not pleased with his purchase later of a personal stereo, as he is already banned from using his old one.

To ‘Fine Things’ for the rest of our crockery order and then I spent a fruitless time wandering around with them as Di had locked her car and then not followed her planned movements to be traced. Dan & I set up our old desk at Shaw’s auction room and Di put out our eggs for tomorrow. I did manage to stoke up our bank account and get a few other materials in the town centre, but then time to leave for home. Not fancying the trauma of the children for a meal out, I vetoed a planned trip to the riverside restaurant and we had salad rolls back home instead. A steady job then with Di moving our things from one bedroom to the other and our ‘new’ furniture seems to suit us very well. By this time I had to leave for Hinchinbrook Hospital and, Daniel going round to Gary’s, the rest of us set off for Huntingdon. Arrived at the reception desk on time and then (between waits) I was weighed (13st 2lbs), samples of urine and blood were taken and I spoke to one of Mr Higgin’s Housemen, who enquired after my condition. A history of two infections of the urinary tract was sufficient to warrant further investigation and I will be called back for x-rays and further tests in a week’s time. Afternoon tea with Di and the girls in the canteen and then home via Buckden Marina. I got some licence disc holders and some outboard motor fuel and arranged for them to try and get Jeckells along this Friday, at the second attempt, to measure for our boat covers. It was teatime by the time we got back, because I also dropped in at the Offord Riding School. I have arranged for Debbie to try horse riding on Thursday week at 4.30pm for a half-hour. Pork chops grilled courtesy of the oven timer for our return and then the chore of the ducks and doves. A near gale force wind, bitterly cold from the north-east again and I wonder when the spring will come. This evening, I read Debbie a Country Companion volume and then got out my tools and fitted the remaining door indicator bolts and stops in the pool toilet area. The luxury of writing up my journal in our new bedroom, before Di brought me up my Bournvita to end a tiring, but rewarding day. No chance to see the news, but the Land Rover/BL sale debate rumbles on and Reagan is making even more threatening noises against Libya. The Sunday Trading Bill is to go for its Commons second reading soon and 60+ Tory MPs are pledged against the 3-line whip. Church leaders are lobbying the government with 1 million signatures on a petition against it. If they asked me, it would have been 1,000,001.
