I had a chance to review the work of the contractor and could see that he had finished excavating the dyke extension for the boat-house and he was busy moving earth with the digger. It was soon dark and so I went in, had tea, and then worked out the complete list of timber for the new boat-house at Heronshaw which took until midnight. It had turned cold with the wind from the north and I had to wrap up warm for my night in the sleeping bag now that we had removed the old heavy storage heater.
