My routine of walking the girls to the bus stop on a fine and warm day as Della gets better used to Sam. Then some time repairing the valve on our swimming pool, which was a pain.

Daniel passes and gets his 2.2 BSc Honours Degree as I travel from Paxton to Horning

Later to bed again last night after arriving back from my visit to Nigel. Diana said that she was in bed and waiting for me earlier, but I know that she would have fallen asleep early in any case. Up and in time to join the girls at the table for breakfast after which I accompanied them to the bus stop for another examination day. Della now makes quite a fuss of Sam and becomes less and less afraid of him every day. A long walk for the dog and then back to tackle a problem on the swimming pool.

The pool had slightly emptied overnight and I traced this to a perished multi-port valve seal and started to replace it with a spare that I keep for this purpose. This turned into a difficult exercise as the old rubber had become welded to the valve and had to be cut and scraped away. Tired from my exertions, and with Diana gone to her slimming club for the morning, I slumped down in front of the TV and watched the opening session of the second Test between England and Australia. The Aussies won the toss, opted to bat and made nearly 300 runs for the loss of only two wickets on a very slow wicket on this first day.

Stayed home for lunch and then made the journey to Norfolk in the afternoon, finding Daniel at Heronshaw upon my arrival. He was again cutting holes in his car to house ever-larger loud speakers and was pleased to be able to use my tools! He went into U.E.A. and got his examination results in the evening and telephoned them through to me. He passed with honours and is a Bachelor of Science with a Lower Second Class Honours Degree in Computer Science. He would have liked a 2.1 grade of degree ( like his Dad!)but did not work hard enough for it but a 2.2 will be all right for his career.

I just managed to mow all the lawns at Heronshaw as my effort for the day and arranged to take my Land Rover Discovery into Mann Egerton tomorrow before coming back to work again. It was fine for the most part today and quite warm.
