Watching the The Film Dave at the Bedford Cinema
Watching the The Film Dave at the Bedford Cinema

A more restful day after yesterday as I dropped round to give Nigel a bottle of whisky on his birthday.

It was markedly colder today but still fine and dry as I encountered house heating issues for the Eastern Gas service engineer to fix as I took the family out to lunch at A.J.'s.

Watching England win at Rugby League on the TV and then taking Diana out to watch the film, ‘Dave’ at Bedford cinema.

be expected that I was going to be very tired today. Even the warm bath last night was not enough to stop my limbs aching and, after taking Sam for his morning walk, I opted against rushing to clear the garden and build a bonfire for the evening. I bought Nigel a bottle of Scotch and a card whilst out with Della and Sam this morning and then dropped it round to Hail Weston House today, his birthday.

The central heating had broken down and we got the Eastern Gas service engineer to call this morning. He first struggled with the design of the heating system but, once I had helped him unscramble it, it was fairly obvious that the circulating pump had failed. Not having another with him, he dismantled and cleaned it and got it working for the time being. All this made the house rather uncomfortable and disrupted the morning and it was then time to take the family out to lunch at A.J.'s.

Just an hour available on our return before the TV Rugby League International started and so I got Della to come out with me to sweep up the fallen leaves ready for us to shred in the morning. England soon ran up a commanding lead in the match and the Satellite TV repair man also arrived to move our receiving dish and so I opted to break off and walk and feed Sam before dark. An evening out at Bedford cinema watching "Dave" a very entertaining and easy film to watch for once.

This made up for not being occupied attending Nigel's firework party which I normally help to set up and operate. Next year, I shall have one of my own. The dish was moved to a point on the wall over our bedroom balcony and, whilst not being too pleased about this, at least the reception is set to improve. It was markedly colder today but still fine and dry but I will be pleased when all the leaves have fallen as keeping the garden clear is quite a chore.
