Another sound and deep night's sleep and reluctant to wake up for the new day. Out with Sam after a breakfast haranguing Daniel over his car problems and a good walk with the dog before the rain came down and we hurried home. He is quite obedient these days and is calming down considerably. A succession of telephone calls to arrange things that had arisen during my absence and was rather alarmed to hear of the extent of the flooding in Horning which has flooded my neighbour’s property and, with it, many of the other houses in the village.

After the window cleaners had come and gone, we went out for lunch at the Southoe Little Chef where we were pleased to get a reasonable standard of service after the disappointments of London. By car to Peterborough to get much-needed supplies of dog food before going to Eastern Industry there to the multi-screen cinema to see the film, "Rising Sun". Back for tea and then out again, this time to Kimbolton Prep, for Della's parents evening. We had to wait quite a while to see her teachers but the news was quite good and there is nothing there to worry about. Strange to see that Mrs Jan Morris, another parent, was cold towards us and Diana has noticed more examples of this of late; almost as if we had upset her in some way when last taking her daughter to the fair.
