More overnight rain in case we had not had enough but at least it had stopped by the time I was ready to take Sam for a walk. Just Debbie off to school and the rest of the family slow to rise but we did manage to have breakfast before I went out. A long walk across the common and, even though the water had subsided, I found some good spots to get Sam swimming across the ditches and dykes.

A little trouble getting him in to the water as usual but at least I did not get a refusal. Back home to start the downstairs shower-room renovation as I stripped off a host of loose tiles, took up the carpet and emptied out the room ready for the work to begin. This had been prompted by some of the tiles in our own shower-room being loose so that we faced the prospect of having more than one out of use.
I then broke off to take Diana out to lunch and then, whilst she took the girls to their cousin, Catherine's party in Sandy, I shared my time between watching the TV Rugby Union and trying out the version of Lotus 1-2-3 that Daniel had got for me. The rugby was poor in the torrential rain and waterlogged pitch and, with the Welsh and Scottish teams playing roughly and brawling, I gave the match up after a while and finished installing the software on my portable.
I returned to the task in the evening and managed to import my investment files so that I can process these on the portable from now on. In between, another walk with Sam in the dusk with yet more rain falling as a drizzle. Some time also today trying to find an alternative supplier of Daniel's motherboard but, between fax and phone, that proved time-consuming and difficult and, in the end, they did not have the items in stock!
