The weather stayed fine and mild today and the wind and rain held off until after dark. I was creosoting the far side of the Heronshaw garage, setting the alarm and then walking Sam before driving from Horning to Paxton.

Another reluctant start after another late night but I eventually got shaved, dressed, had my cereal breakfast and got out with Sam for a long walk across Crabbett's Marsh road. Quite tired after getting back and so chose to do the final set-up from the alarm system for which I could just sit on a stool. Then out to creosote the far side of the garage as I had got permission from Doris Vincent to get on her drive for that purpose. Chatted to her also about the property and road maintenance as well as the recent floods for the water level had been up high again with the northerly winds.

No luck with the moles again but I think they may catch themselves on my traps once they are left undisturbed again. A lunch of soup and bread with the rest of my celery added and then fresh fruit salad to follow as I had succeeded in burning the rest of my apple pie! Then the rush to get packed up and loaded and away in time to get home to Paxton and walk Sam in the light. This I managed to do; leaving the burglar alarm set for the first time. A mountain of mail to read on arrival but soon out with Sam to give him a well-earned walk for he always behaves himself well in the car. Had hoped to take the family out to the cinema this evening but Diana had arranged to collect Della from a friend's house.

Daniel borrowed Di's car this weekend to go to Leicester to see his friend Gary which makes a change.
