The gardener got wet in a downpour whist concreting, Di attended her slimming club and School Production and concreting and I gave Sam a more basic couple of runs today, concentrating on the simple tasks.

The gardener had settled down to concrete another section of the path this morning and managed to get caught in a downpour for his trouble and he was not amused. He was introduced to our new house cleaner who still seems very nervous but is quite proficient. Diana attended her slimming club and actually lost two pounds this week which made up for the last two or three sessions.

I gave Sam a more basic couple of runs today, concentrating on the simple tasks that should feature in his working test this coming Sunday such as waterwork, multiple blind seen and memory retrieves and steadiness to the shot and dummy launcher. Basic heel-work and obedience, though boring, was also the task of the day. Despite his slowness in entering water, I think that he is in pretty good shape, and it would take a very well-trained pup to beat him in the class.

Much of the day summarising my journal for the month of February but I took the whole family to Kimbolton School this evening for the first night of "We have ways of making you laugh", a series of musical and humorous sketches put together and performed by the school staff. They were very good singing, reciting, acting and playing music so that the whole house thoroughly enjoyed it. The highlights included the gorgeous but serious Mrs Adlam with her good looks and singing voice and the unexpected star act of a staff member playing a hand saw with a bow to create a perfect rendition. I met the bursar, Terry Hayward, who refuses to take part and I took satisfaction from the small digs about him that they had worked into the script! Home quite late and then today's journal before bed.
