Sam had his longest walks for some time and enjoyed the experience immensely and I dropped by Robert Ward's house in Molesworth and found out what his plans were for his farm.

Then on this evening's meeting of the St Ives Liberal Democrats where I took the bull by the horns and laid out the planned basis of the campaign, inviting the key protagonists to join the organising group for a short chat.

A walk up at Molesworth with Sam for a good exercise and then, afterwards, I dropped by Robert Ward's house and found out what his plans were for his farm. it will remain in set-a-side at least until the autumn and I may take Jim and Ben with me for training provided we use my car.

More catching up work on my journal and then to prepare for this evening's meeting of the St Ives Liberal Democrats to which I went after tea. I picked Derek up and we pulled Percy out of an HDC planning meeting first at Pathfinder House and got him organised to go round and see the potential candidate later this evening.

Then on to await our turn to speak after the session on the Euro Elections. I took the bull by the horns and laid out the planned basis of the campaign, inviting the key protagonists to join the organising group for a short chat after the meeting and a more organised session the following evening.

The only area of unease was as to the question of converting and selecting this ex-Tory hopeful but then I got the telephone call through from Percy that told he was actually a Conservative member and was unwilling to drop out of their selection process for consideration by us anyway. Home after a drink with Derek where we smiled at the antics of these highly-principled but nit-picking and disorganised fellow LibDems and thought how much work will be needed to knock them into shape.
