Tackling Comart Group problems on a hot and humid day following the antics of a controversial government

Still hot and humid weather, though dull at times. The ducks have laid 6 eggs two days running and the ‘chicks’ now seem as large as the adults. I am considering how to embark on trimming their wings without too much fuss and this weekend will probably be the right time.

To the office for a hectic day of problems and work. June is still struggling to catch up and the receptionist was ill today instead of being back to work. The day’s events included sorting out some financing problems for Xitan Systems, Personnel problems of The Byte Shop and Comart’s problems with Tecmar. This company makes IBM add-ons and we represent them in the U.K. Combinations of poor administration, diversity of product, export licensing, factory move and poor communications were at fault. Also Ken Goddard, Comart’s PC Products Sales exec, has been patently unable to cope with the situation, and been misleading all and sundry in the hope things will turn out for the best. Phone calls to Marty Alpert, Tecmar’s President, and Dan McCarthy our shippers were made to tie down the commitments.

An evening reading and watching television with Daniel – a film about talking Dolphins. I really must find energy to resume the boat repairs.

News today of more effects of government cutbacks. Also the strong indignations of Health Service Unions at the Governments proposals to create a pay review body providing the rights to strike are removed. Gerry Adams, former leader of the Belfast IRA, creates a storm by visiting the House of Commons, now he is an M.P.

A new hedge trimmer has arrived this evening and the gardener needs to use it to good effect.
