The weather was nice again with warm sun and a slight south-westerly breeze that we hoped would stay unchanged for polling day. Having not done so for some time, I opted to drive into Cambridge with Diana and met her parents for coffee and a chat.

The conversation centred on the subject of my old Dad's car and how Charles and Norma would quite like to buy it as their own car body work was going rusty. The trouble is that Daniel is so remiss in chasing up the arrangements for its body work repair that Diana and I despair of ever getting it fixed and thus looked after. At least I bought a new folding pocket wallet which will be much more convenient for carrying things safely in my trouser pocket from now on. Also some computer supplies.

The arrangements for Debbie's party on the eve of her 15th birthday are under pressure as her invitees start the process of crying off and making excuses. Already two of them cannot come and a third has to leave early. Diana was back at keep fit in the afternoon and is now into Yoga which, given her immobility and stiffness, must be quite a spectacle to watch. She took Debbie along to this class in the evening; also, I think, with Sally's mum, Pat Stanley.

On the campaign trail, it seems that I upset Louise Busby, our young 23-year-old Eynesbury newcomer, by trying to push her too far. Having broken up with her regular boyfriend at the beginning of the week and not been given too much help in her campaign due to our priorities elsewhere, she was rather fragile, and I pushed her too far to get out on her own account. I have the suspicion as well that I had also made an impression on her, and I was not returning her interest. Stress and motivation do these things as I used to find in business. Anyway, despite waiting late at Avenue Road to key in her latest canvas results, she did not show. Not much time again for Sam but he did get his runs and as much attention as I could manage.
