After briefing my agents to act on our Horning planning situation, I set off to Norfolk with Daniel and found the Discovery front seats not as comfortable as on my former Range Rover.

Some shopping together and then Dan borrowed Dad’s old car for his date with Dawn. The weather stayed fine for most of the day, but rain was spreading from the west.

The government just managed a majority for a House of Commons vote to impose VAT on fuel and this went down like a lead balloon

Up early to tend to the dog on a morning when I was keen to get away for Norfolk and then had breakfast with the family. For once, Daniel was already up and about, and I did not have to call him with a cup of tea. It seems that my efforts are beginning to put him into a new regime! A couple of urgent items in the mail and so I had to attend to them. I had word at long last from Ekins Professional about the Norfolk planning situation and, having discussed it with Gerard Chadwick of Taylor Vinters, we are agreed upon making another application to vary the conditions and subsequently appeal against that.

At least this did not affect us packing up the Discovery and getting everything aboard for my journey to Horning. Daniel was coming with me as he had another date with his girlfriend Dawn. The journey was all right, and the roads fairly clear for the time of year, but both Daniel and I found the front seats in the Discovery rather uncomfortable now they have had a little use. There does not seem to be enough lumbar support so that we both had aches in the small of our backs by the journey's end. The seats are not as good as those on the Range Rover and, if I keep the car, I may have to change them for something better. We stopped for lunch at a Happy Eater and eventually arrived in Horning in early afternoon.

After unloading Sam and all of the gear, we returned to Norwich and then Wroxham and did some shopping. My new pair of boating shoes, some food and some materials so that Daniel could build a "hi-fi" cabinet for the back of his car. Dan took Sam for a walk whilst I made the tea and then he went out in my former Dad's Escort Estate for his date whilst I stayed in and did some housework, watched the film "Jaws" and then took a bath until Daniel came back just after midnight. The government just managed a majority for a House of Commons vote to impose VAT on fuel and this went down like a lead balloon with electors as the latest by-election campaign was starting in Chichester.
