Out early to arrive in Norfolk in time for The Wroxham Boat Auction, which was a disappointment.

Later to Carrow Road to see Norwich City whose injuries led to them losing against QPR 3-4. Sam did not settle as easily as usual in his Norfolk kennel and whined a bit.

I had stayed at home, tired, last night and so was pledged to get up early and make the trip to Norfolk after breakfast. I used the time before the meal to clear up my office and plan the things that I needed to take so that I was ready to leave directly afterwards.

Left quite early but then found the A45 east-bound carriageway closed near Cambridge and so had to go through the city outskirts and lost time. Still arrived an hour early for the Wroxham Boat Auction and, after collecting a catalogue, drove over to Horning and back to drop Sam off and see how things were. The water level was well down and ground dried off. Back to the auction where I found the exhibits poor and the weather chilling after the milder temperatures of late and so I drove into Norwich to do some shopping in the gun shops.

I bought some cartridges, another training dummy and a set of pigeon lofting poles and was going to drive back but opted to see a football match instead. Norwich City were playing at home to Queens Park Rangers and, having wanted to go and see them play for some time, I took this opportunity. Norwich started well and went a goal up but, with their captain and chief defender, Ian Culverhouse, unable to play; they then lost another key defender injured just before half time and became disorganised in defence.

They put their England Under-21 captain and star striker, Chris Sutton, in defence but he was not suited and they found themselves conceding four goals. Though they fought back to score two more goals, the game was frustratingly lost 3-4. Back through the traffic to take Sam out and feed him before dark and then plucked and prepared one of the wood pigeons to grill and eat. Then inside to rest for the evening, watching some TV before taking a bath. Sam did not settle as easily as usual in his Norfolk kennel and whined a bit.
